It's been a great start to a relaxing, albeit cold weekend.

8 year-old "Red Sox Nation" got the victory in extra innings. More importantly, the red-headed Bandy boy got his first hit. Dad / 3rd Base Coach is very proud!

- One day, Kevin Durant will be the best player in The Association's western conference. Thankfully, that day was not today.
- The bookstore that I griped about here, removed one of the two placards I griped about. (Sometimes, winged words of snark get the job done.)

We took the kids to Chicago over Spring Break. We had a GREAT time. Weather got better and better, this is the last day. MRFL still like to hold my hand even after 21 years of marriage (and no matter how old kids are, they still walk funny and get in the way! MOVE IT!)

Dozer, I hope you had a chance to walk down Michigan Ave...... Did you hit any of the local watering sites with MRFL like the Billy Goat tavern? That business about holding hands I believe in completely,Maggie and I still do it even after 52 years now. You mentioned kids, who besides little dude was with you?

All of you listen to 73 years of combined Married time! Hand holding is a much over looked pleasure and form of communication.
Little Dude was there, He really like the Field Museum and the Aquarium. The Bright Center of My Universe 17YO D was working the shutter and that gaggle-ly walkin' 14YO kid in front of me ("It's a HUGE sidewalk! Do you HAVE to walk directly in front of me?) is the Little Dude's best big brother.
It was great time. Missed the bars but enjoyed the street, Chicagoans are really nice.

I waved, did you see me?
Glad you had such a great time, the weather has been fabulous for a change...though rain is coming later this week, just in time for the weekend.
My happy thought of the day...the Chicago Blackhawks are still in the playoffs.

At Café Sigaba, the coffee is brewed strong and hot, the mugs are huge, the Splenda is plentiful, the banter is painfully witty and erudite (or so it seems--it could just be the caffeine talking), and no one reads the damn newspaper without first paying for it.

Drove to LA Saturday a.m. to see my younger daughter's work displayed in an art show and see the lighting of the venue that she helped design and install. We had a nice, if brief visit. Stayed in a nice little hotel around the corner - O Hotel - which was very pleasant and trendy - not to mention convenient. Drove back to Phoenix Sunday a.m. Love that desert scenery (in my A/C'ed car!).

Glad to be back home in Tejas where I just spent $47 to fill an 18 gallon gas tank and out of Europe where I was spending €68* to fill a 12 gallon gas tank last week.
Richard
* €1 (Euro) = $1.33

2010 Face of America Bike Ride
My happy thought for the day:
Yesterday we finished our two day journey on bicycle from the Nation's Capital, to Gettysburg, PA. The ride was 110 Miles total, and went from Saturday at 0700, we stopped at 1700 Saturday evening after 65 miles, and left again Sunday morning at 0700, arriving to Gettysburg around 1300.
What makes me so happy about it is that not only did we finish it, all of our Warriors made it all the way! These guys will not back down, and we damn sure try not let them.
The gentlemen in the front in the wheelchair is a LTC that did the entire ride on a hand bike!
FWIW, I am in the front row, far left, squatting/kneeling.

After six months of doctors appointments, 4 trips across Arizona, and a minor medical procedure, my 2 year old is arthritis-free.
(He was pretty much free of it 48 hrs after having injections last month, but the rheumatologist gave the official thumbs up today.)
Quite grateful to live in a nation with such excellent medicine.
My kid gets to be a kid.
