Took me a while to post here...
Greetings,
I am 23 and just graduated from the University of Nebraska.
Right now I'm trying to decide between going to medical school or joining the Army and giving the 18X a go. I've always been fascinated with the military; SF's "smarter, not harder" approach and the cultural side of things--contrasted with Rangers et al-- are appealing to me.
A buddy of mine, a current 1st year med student, is a former Ranger and encourages my military aspirations--he seems to think I've got what it takes based on the guys he knows in SF.
Feel free to send me a PM if you feel like chewing the fat.
Cheers,
Confucius

Hello,
new member & just introducing myself. Former Navy, nothing fancy just std-issue brown-shoe. Live in the southern US, I found this forum quite by accident and I enjoy the more thoughtful aspects of it.
Greetings to all.

Good day
I have been lurking on this board for several years now. Made an intro back then, but after a precautionary check cannot find it.
I live in Johannesburg South Africa, and am currently employed in the financial services sector. I am a former member of 1 Parachute Battalion SADF and 3 Parachute Bn (CF) known as the Parabats.
My intersts are centred largely around the outdoors hunting hiking etc although time seems to have become very limited for this lately.
I also have an interest in the history of military units and come here to read the opinions of members.

Active Duty guy here. 8 Years so far. Served my first 5 kicking around as Infantry with a "Letter of SF Intent", Got out in 2010 because I thought it was a good idea at the time.
Did a year on Reserves with PSYOP, did a year IRR because I didn't appreciate the climate of the unit, after screwballing a few financial things I took the opportunity to rejoin Active Duty in 2012 as a Mechanic.
Now back in the thick of it and enjoying my Groundhog Day career, that's a story for another thread, baby on the way and finances getting right, I've turned my focus back to my career and what I want it to be, which brings me here.
Been lurking here for a couple years, figured it was a good time to stick my head out of the foxhole and make myself known. I appreciate the resource y'all provide to those of us thinking about Selection.
Back to my corner, I hope to be reporting my attendance to SFAS in the near future.

Hello.
You can call me Van. Prior service as a 19D with 3d ACR. I got one deployment under my belt, came home and rode my contract out. I thought I was making the right move at the time. A few years have passed and the more that do the more I realize that I was more at home and at peace with myself in the Army than I am in my actual home. So I've decided I'm going back, come Hell or high water. I'm dropping school after this semester ends to focus on training so I can be as prepared as possible when I take the plunge. I'm taking it one day at a time and my current goal is to be ready, sign, and go as soon as March. I'm a fat body these days, so I've got my work cut out for me but I know what I want and I'm letting nothing stop me. Anyway, my sole purpose here is to lurk, soak up all the information I can, and listen to the advice of those who have gone before me. A sincere Thanks to all the quiet professionals out there who've made this site possible and for all you've done. I will resume and maintain radio silence unless otherwise ordered or I have something worthwhile to contribute.

Hello, Mike here. Recent graduate with a bachelor's in kinesiology and very excited to have enlisted 18x a few weeks ago. Can't wait to get this process started and looking to learn as much as possible on this site before shipping in a few months.

Introduction
Joined the military in 1998 and I have been Infantry the entire time. Recently graduated with a degree in Biology and a concentration in Pre-Med. Currently in the National Guard after a 7 year enlistment on active duty. Now I'm a squad leader (11B3V) of a light infantry unit in the Virgnia Army National Guard.

Long time lurker, first time poster
Hello everyone,
I'm Dan. Completed my BS in electrical engineering from Ohio University in 2008. Did a government scholarship in Japan after that. Enlisted in the army in 2010 and completed the Q-course in February 2012. Been with 1-1 SFG ever since (ODB1120, ODA1126).
I've been lurking around the boards for the past few years and have found some pretty helpful stuff. I made the field expedient SATCOM antenna last year in Afghanistan, and it was pretty awesome.
Anyway, it's great to be here.
Dan

I'm an 11B with the LRS company out at JBLM.
I've been creeping around here looking at the 18E forum for awhile, decided I'd finally introduce myself.

Thanks for having me
My name is Carl. Former reservist who decided to jump in the pipeline as a Specialist(E-4).
I've been reading from this site since I offically started with the signing of my contract. The insight the Quiet Professionals and many of the other members have has helped me and the other 18x's in my group improve drastically. I became a member just to be a more active part of this community.
Thanks for allowing me to join.

Long time troll
My name is Steve and I am a SFC, 11B in the MOS Phase of the Q.
I started the Q back in Nov of 2012 and used PS.com as a medium to look thru when I was deciding on my career path, prior to SFAS. I still continue to use this great resource for advice and wisdom, both from a success and failure POV of others.

Hello all,
I'm Thomas, graduated in 2011 with a BA in Economics. Currently I'm in sales and working on my personal fitness in preparation for getting an 18X contract. I truly appreciate the wealth of knowledge that's available on this forum and others like it. The web links and advice that I've found on this forum has greatly helped my exercise regime and given me a much better understanding of what lies in store for me.
Have a great holiday everyone.

Greetings. I am a 27 year old E-5 medic with the CA Army National Guard. Am hoping to attend an upcoming SFRE held by the 19th group and figured introducing myself would be a keen idea in case I had any questions. Thank you for having me, and I've huge amounts of respect for all of you.
