Good that he had a .338 Remington Magnum and not something smaller like an '06 or .270. Knowing that large bears might be in the area of their hunt may have led them to carry a larger caliber.

Oh, I don’t know, mm… with the right load, an ‘06 should do the trick…

The size of the paws in relation to the bear's size and weight seem off to me--I wonder if the bear had been sick for awhile since he'd been attacking livestock like that...Those paws should go on a much heavier bear.

Still it will make a magnificent rug.

Mature grizzly boars average about 700-800 pounds. 1300 pounds is big. Look at the picture of its body- No ribs or spine sticking out. It looks pretty healthy.
