You're lucky, we heard southern Wisconsin and southern Michigan would get it bad. NW Indiana was hit worse than us.

Just looking at those pictures makes me feel cold.
The extended forecast for Southern California is sunshine and 75 degrees.
If you're stuck indoors because of the weather be sure to drink plenty of fluids.

Let's see...
Irish Whiskey, check.
Tequila and limes, check.
Maker's Mark, check.
Ok I'm good to go on that advice.

You know if I told you that I just bought you a round trip that departs in the morning for here (oh yes it was 88 deg today) for the next 6 days I know you would be sitting at the airport tonight. 88deg on the beach in Feb beats frozen in the house looking out the window........and hoping the car can be dug out this year.

Amazed when I read this report via AOL news
"Emilio Ramirez, 66, was stranded on Lake Shore Drive after the storm dumped 17 inches of snow on the city, and his evening commute became an overnight ordeal.
"I've been stuck out here for five hours. This is unbelievable," Ramirez told the Chicago Tribune. "I have half a tank of gas left and have been turning the engine off to save what I have, because who knows when we're going to get out of here? There's no sign of us moving anytime soon."
Dude! You're in the middle of one of the largest cities in the world. Look around. Those are DOORS to BUILDINGS. You're not in the middle on Wyoming. People are funny.
There was also a picture of an abandoned car (obviously not Emilio's). It was filled with snow. Left the windows down. . . WHY?

Spent the day east of Cheyenne, a few miles south of I80, a few miles north of the Colorado state line...beautiful day...high temp might have hit zero...not enough snow on the ground to cover the grass and not enough moisture in the snow to make a snowball...It was -18°F when I arrived there this morning...like I said, it may have hit zero...then again, maybe not...
But for the happy thoughts...I was out alone (sometimes I prefer to work alone...especially when I'm debugging new gear) with a piece of new equipment we haven't been able to get running properly...after some cursing and rebooting, got one of our new GPS network rovers up and running and was able to collect data for topography on two ten acre sites before the cell phone battery succumbed to the cold...I had two crews out last week in much warmer weather with the same equipment and didn't get anything done, had to rely on a back-up set of gear to keep up with our client's needs...
I'm almost thawed out...

Oh, people sat out there upwards of 10 + hours, not wanting to "abandon" their vehicles. By that time many had to climb out of their windows.
What do you expect...it's a primarily democratic city.
Here, check these out. This is Lake Shore Drive on Tuesday afternoon. Took them 24 hours but they cleared miles of cars and LSD was open this morning.

I will think about all of you Saturday morning while I jump into the deep blue waters on the south shore. It really looks cold up there... That is my happy thought..........

Kids were playing in the backyard barefoot yesterday.
Spring is near.
Went down to the overlook above Lakeshore drive last evening.
My wimpy camera doesn't do it justice.

Wow, that is low! Areas that would have been too deep to dive a few years back are now reachable!!!!

It's only down about 80 feet from full pool.
Back in 2005, it was down 145 feet.
Worked here in Page during the summer of '93.
The lake went up 56' between March 1 and July 15.

Yesterday, saw the first flock of Sand Hill Cranes flying north across North Georgia.
Today, saw two more large flocks heading home to the northern states after wintering in Florida.
Spring (and warmer weather) will be here in a few weeks!!
