Sounds like a good plan for you lksteve, that's cold! Our winds are picking up here today, heading into tomorrow evening we're looking at 50mph with snow fall estimated at 3 inches per hour. Lots of drifting and accumulation anywhere from 12-28 inches. Depending on the AO drifing from 8-10 feet.
Our boss has tentatively closed the office for Wednesday, we'll see how it all rolls.

Am with ya'll....classes cancelled for tomorrow, and maybe the entire week, if the projections are correct.
Lots and lots of snow, ice, and below zero temps. Thank goodness for the, Be Prepared thread!!! Now, if only there were a hot guy here to ride out the storm with, and make a snowman outside......... That would be perfect!!!

Gypsy,
We have been in a blizzard, (see below white out conditions,) since around 0600 this morning, when I first went out to survey the scene. If this is headed your way, take sheler/ precautions now.
The WIND is sustained here at 30mph, and gusting a lot harder.
Be Safe everone!!!
Happy thought...got to make snownballs.....

^^I just have to ask...what is that first picture?
Before anyone assumes I'm being crude...I was trying to figure out if that was a snowball in the making.

Yes Sir...
Just outside my Apt. on the third floor, my landing has about a three foot snow drift, and climbing!
Thie wind is the kicker in this thing, and it is fierce. Oh, and the entire state of Oklahoma has been put under a state of emergency.....sure we will not be the last.

Sweet mother! I think the coldest I've experienced was about -30ish, with windchill.
I've been prepared for this storm since the weekend. As I drove home earlier this afternoon (thanks boss for letting us go early) you could see the parking lots jam packed with cars. Guess they didn't hear about the storm.
We have 50mph winds now, the snow is litterly being lifted from the ground and you can see some mini snow tornadoes. Since I'm inside, I'm enjoying my winter wonderland.
Some of my NG Soldiers have been called up for SAD, they were having a fun time of it this morning getting ready and packing vehicles. Stay safe guys!

Oh come on B, you know you want some of this. Took these about 0700 today. And yes, there is a car buried in between the two semi-visible cars in the second pic. Not mine!

Couple more...
We received 21 inches so far. I know this because of my scientific method of measurement. Snow is over my knees, I'm only 63 inches tall...thus 1/3 of me is covered in show. 1/3 of Gypsy equals 21 inches.
Supposedly a few more inches may fall today. But the sun is out for now, so the digout begins.
One thing that is annoying the hell out of me is the continued round the clock coverage on all stations of the event...enough already. Give us your updates and return us to our "regularly scheduled programming".

My happy thought of the day - we didn't get the snow nerly as bad as Gypsy.
The city I live in and the one in which I work both did a great job clearing the roads and I was in to work in 35 minutes (normally a 20 minute drive) - of course, I did get to work at 0530 to avoid idiots on the road...

Heard about that, my corporate office is in FT Worth, they had about 1/3 the staff yesterday morning and finally closed down. Stay safe!
We're going to be about -30 tonight with wind chills and frigid temps for days, and "snow flurries" over the weekend.
