My son had his first 2 games of his first soccer tournament. He's playing up 2 years (U8 when he qualifies for U6). His team won both games, and he scored 2 goals in the second game (4-1 win)! I am one proud papa.

They may get a chance to play for the championship tomorrow afternoon!

The Old Birds are flying today.

Just saw a B-24 fly over the house. Every so often, Old Birds like the B-24 and a B-17 will come into one of our local airports, (Rocky Mountain airport (aka ... Jeffco airport) and are on static display, and also offer rides for people. They fly along the front range, down to about the A.F. Academy, the head back up to the Airport. You can hear those coming from far off. Beautiful sight and SOUND.

If I can grab a pic, the next time it flies over, I'll post it up.

Just looked out my door and did not see any. I may go for a run and see what I can see. Several weeks back some were flying out of Centennial and turning around in Larkspur/South Castle Rock.

We had a "small problem" at work around noon on Friday. All non-essential folks were released early so I went to the range with a co-worker.

Mon & Tues are Admin Leave (honey do's & PT) with pay.

Nice.

9-7-10 Son #2 (13YO) started his first Middle School Baseball game. Led the Wildcats to victory over the Vikings this afternoon. He pitched 6 shutout innings. He faced 24 batters, struck out 4, walked 3. Gave up 5 hits. Of 70 pitches thrown only 23 were balls.
The 4th Inning was completed in 6 pitches -- Pitch 1, Fly to Left -- OUT. Pitch 2, Fly to Center -- OUT. Pitch 3, Foul STRIKE 1. Pitch 4, Ball. Pitch 5, Foul STRIKE 2. Pitch 6, a swing and a miss -- OUT.
Three up, Three down.
The entire Wildcat team played like Champions!!!

(They play 7 innings)

Way to go, "Spawn of Dozer"!

I leave earrrrrly tomorrow morning to fly to Co Springs, through Denver, (boy, will my arms be tired) to attend my grandson's baptism/christening.

So... I guess I'll get "softer" for a while after I get back.

Friday, along about 4:05 PM, CST, marked a very happy event for me.

I've been working on getting a doctoral degree (Ed.D. in Educational Policy and Leadership) for the past 4 years. I finished my dissertation defense, which means I presented my research and findings on online education to the 4 faculty members on my committee.

I passed. After the presentation and a brief period of deliberation, the chairman came out, smiled, shook my hand, and said "Congratulations, Dr. ------.

I will need to change a few words and delete a couple sentences, but within a couple weeks the dissertation will be forwarded to the dean of the graduate school. Along about mid-December, it becomes official.

The dedication included one individual - but also all of you within this electronic community. That portion is quoted:

Thanks also to the men and women within the online community at ProfessionalSoldiers.com, who provided examples of courage, motivation, and endurance.

Sincere thanks. Without you all, I might have been treed by a chihuahua.

Thinking of how luck I am to be married to my wife of 17 years and not taking it for granted.
