Gaza will "radicalise" British Muslims

Interesting article. Of course it's going to radicalize them...as it has all over the world but then again, they find anything and everything to be radical about.

UK: Officials fear Gaza will "radicalise" British Muslims
Apparently the same way Iraq, dogs, and underwear ads tend to radicalize Muslims. If the latter are constantly crying "wolf" -- that is, if everything "offends," "enrages," and "radicalizes" them, if "cartoons" lead to riots and deaths -- exactly when should the world take Muslim complaints seriously?

"Ministers voice fears Gaza will radicalise British Muslims," from AFP, January 12:

LONDON (AFP) — Government ministers expressed concern Monday that Israel's military campaign in Gaza was radicalising Muslims in Britain.

Communities Secretary Hazel Blears said she was "very concerned" that the conflict could help extremists, and justice minister Shahid Malik warned it was having a "profoundly acute and unhealthy" effect on Muslim communities here.

"I am very concerned indeed that the events in Gaza could well be used by those people who want to peddle pernicious extremist views to draw particularly vulnerable young people into that kind of extremism," Blears told the BBC.[...]

On Thursday, representatives of Muslim organisations who have been active in tackling extremism in Britain warned Prime Minister Gordon Brown in a letter that anger over the Israeli campaign in Gaza has reached "acute levels".

"The Israeli government's use of disproportionate force ... has revived extremist groups and empowered their message of violence and perennial conflict," said the letter...

Unless we are completely submissive to the Extremist, we are going to radicalize the Muslims. This mantra has been chanted and chanted for a long time.

IMHO, placating the extremists is what radicalizes Muslims. Basically just the opposite. Maybe they need to realize the whole world does not revolve around appeasing them.

I do not support messing with people just to mess with them, but they need to learn the same rules of "tolerance" to each other that we all live by. It is their intolerance that is problem.

I agree with you, clearly those Officials in the UK haven't been paying attention, they must have missed the riots in France over the cartoon depiction of Muhammad, further I'd like them to define what they believe to be a "moderate" Muslim. I think very few true moderates will be lost due to the Gaza conflict, it's not like this conflict is new, and any so called "moderate" who is "lost" isn't really a moderate if they aren't equally as appalled by the 600+ missile attacks on the civilians in Israel over the past couple of years.

What they should be concerned about and they did mention is the recruiting of youth to the extremist movement, however this new campaign into Gaza will be used as a new talking point, if the Israelis weren't there the recruiters would just use our quote on quote occupation of Muslim lands or any other one of their gripes to recruit Muslim youth to the "cause".

Def.. They already have. I saw a news post today with a video that shows the propaganda, indoctrination and basic brainwashing of Palestinian youth, through music and children's television shows.
Speaking of the riots in France, a few years back they had them where they burned, looted and rioted in many cities and towns around France...because they were disgruntled and disenfranchised....so they say. And that was the 2nd gen Muslims in that country.
