Reaper hit the nail on the head with 1911's.

All 1911's should built with generous tolerances. "Accuracy upgrades" tend to offend the "Gun Gods". Especially in a 1911 platform.

There are plenty of good upgrades that can be made to make the platform custom to your needs, but too many gunsmiths try to reinvent the wheel, to the overall detriment of the weapon.

This one is my Kimber Custom TLE II. Had a reliability upgrade to include polishing the feed throat and ramp, removing the firing pin block, and setting the locking lug. It is a full-length guide rod 1911, but it runs like a raped ape. The grips are Vaya con Dios, and the sights are XS Big Dots.

My daily carry is a SiG P-229 Elite, however.

AMT Hardballer. Try not to laugh. I bought the thing when I was a private and have been shooting it since then. I have about 5000 rounds through it and the only malfunctions I've had are with chip maccormic mags. I've blazed with ball, hollow point, and efmj. With good match ammo I got 2.5" at 25 meters off hand (on a good day, with the wind at my back, and only during low tide, etc., etc.). I love the pistol and would trust my life with it.

But, please don't hold this against me. I used my "pistol money" I was saving, to buy an evil black rifle. I'm starting a new pistol fund to buy me some tactical tuperware.

is anyone here familiar wth Ed Brown 1911s? They have what they call a Special Forces model but it does not appear to have any actual connection to SF. I handled one this afternoon it felt great but was incredibly expensive ($2500.00 +) IMO. I currently like to carry my SA TRP Operator.

New arrival: Dan Wesson Classic Commander Bobtail. One of the nicer 1911's I've had so far. Functions perfectly with any type of round I've put in it. VZ g10 grips provide very positive grip.

I've got a Springfield Loaded MC Operator with an M3 weapon light attached. Replaced the cruddy Pachmayr rubber wraparound grips with Striders. No FTF/FTE, and a tack driver at that. Used to have a Norinco 1911A1 as my first pistol. Sold that to a squid to fund this. I run Chip McCormick and Wilson 8 rounders. Ammo - whatever I can afford other than Wolf or Blazer!

I've had a PT145 MilPro as my carry for 5 years. It's been reliable, however, it is 1st Gen. and not compatible with newer models like yours due to a positive change in the guide rod/spring assembly. Absolutely love it and hope you enjoy yours.

I am looking to fund a SA micro compact as well.

I see the HK polymers are very popular with the lot of you. I nearly bought a USP45 years ago and ultimately decided against it due to reports of the frame cracking under normal use conditions. Have any of you had structural problems with your HKs or would you know if these issues have been resolved (if they were even mainsteam at all)?

Finally got my PT145 out and ran some round through it. 75rds of 230gr FMJ CCI Blazer (brass) w/o problems...except for the fact that I had a helluva time finding the brass as this pistol ejects it a loooong way.

i'm shooting 6+" low and slightly left at about 10yds with the straight 8 sights that come standard. You can't baby the pistol, but I didn't think the recoil was that bad for a little gun. I liked it.

My wife, I think, is afraid of it. My 11yr old likes it.

MY 8yr old? All he could say was, "Woaaaahh!"

My EDC in an M&P 45FS, but I like my M&P 45c more because I shoot it better. I don't EDC the 45c because I will not EDC a handgun without a Crimson Trace laser on it. I view a laser's training benefits more important than the tactical benefits for this civilian with a limited ammo budget and limited access to ammo these days.

Nice, I recently got a M&P 45 midsize(the 4 inch barrel on a fullsize frame). Its replaced my USP compact 40 with Heinie sights as my EDC. Only thing is the finish on the M&P's wears off a helluva lot faster than the H&K finish. But its a carry gun so who cares.

I keep an XD-45 4" for home defense and a Springfield GI for everything else. I really love the GI.

I currently have two .45s:
1.) USGI Ithaca m1911 from an old Sea Bee friend
2.) XD-45 service model

I really like the simplicity of the XD, but the trigger pull seems a bit long, and I still have the stock sights, all of which will be replaced/upgraded in due time.

I have a blued Colt Series 70 GM that's box stock, except for a set of bark ivory grips I guess you could call that one my "purist" .45

I have a BUL 45 hi-cap, which is a pretty slick widebody... holds lotsa bullets.

One of my all time favorites is my Detonics Mk VI. This one was modified some and has some nice frontstrap checkering done by an old Friend (Dean), radiused the sharp edges and beadblasted... a good carry gun that works well in a S/S IWB holster.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Jericho 941 in .45?

I have been scouring the internet for information, reviews and thoughts on this gun for my first CCW. It's between the Jericho 941 Compact and the HK45c, which is around $400 more. The Jericho has a 10 round magazine capacity while the HK45c has 8. I've heard of people putting 100,000+ rounds through the HK45c without any FTF, and a reliable gun that I can learn and hang on to for a long time is what I'm looking for.

To be honest, I'm kind of just hoping someone with more wisdom than me will tell me no for the Jericho so I can go ahead and buy the HK45c. I suppose there's just something appealing about an Israeli weapon.

But I know you only buy quality once, and quality, in this situation, means 3 months of my stipend.
