Finding an e-mail with holiday greetings from a group of former students made my day.

Quote:
Hey Mr H!

We wanted to wish you and your family a happy holiday season out there in California.

Ashley, Arielle, Melissa, Margaret, Caroline, Kelly

PS - yes we were behaving outselves! LOL
They graduated in the Class of 2008; GREAT kids.

My daughter of 5 gave me a nice cut out green bird with glued on feathers. I was impressed and thanked her for it and then asked her..

'Have you or have you not heard, about the bird?'

My youngest turned to look me fully in the face. 'Yes dad, the 'bird' is the word.

'Fine I said, just so you know'.

A little while later, getting her dressed, as I helped her put on a pair of red sox, I asked, 'You know, they have Red Sox in Boston'

Once again, a flat out stare, 'Dad, I do not like dirty water either' and she ran off into the living room. Yelling over her shoulder 'and no singing it!

-cough- apparently its time to learn new songs to get her dressed by.

Having the honor to help host a Christmas party for 100+ Soldiers and their families from Charlie Troop, 106th CAV (ILARNG). Santa even showed up, riding a Fire Truck!

Ten inches of fresh powder and temps in the mid-twenty's. Marvelous!

Assuming the runway gets plowed #1 daughter gets in Friday from Gordon, for an in-person, "really me I'm really here" Christmas. There are some munchkins who have laid out a thorough OPORD to take care of their aunt sleeping in at all...
I'll be makin' breakfast - Livin' large.

Best to you, and to his fortune with the flight.
Got a kick out of daughter's arrival Friday night. She's a helluva Soldier but a frickin' disaster magnet for com'l air. (I keep telling her that if the last hop is a puddle jumper start travel by 0600...).

Amused in the little local airport to find the following on the Arr/Dep tote board where, apparently, truth in advertising must've taken hold. Instead of the usual "Delayed" (yawn) hers & the flight before said in very big letters:

300 Minutes LATE

More honesty from a local carrier than the TSA magpies who stole Pete's cheese.

Aforementioned daugher safe at home, on the floor putting batteries in nephew's new Tonka CH-53. Been huggin' the munchkins close alot and that's happy enough for me today.

Enjoy the holidays with your son, that's the best.
Merry Christmas!

While I was in another room in the house today, heard the granddaughters, ages 9, 5, and 4 in the living room singing hymns in perfect pitch and melody....made me smile.

The look on my 2 yr old son's face when he saw his new train table and trains. His words - It's beautiful, dad.

It made the 3 1/2 hours I spent putting it together while wrestling the stomach flu seem like nothing.

Happy to report I completed my first CHL class yesterday, way down in Terlingua, Tx. Passed the written and shooting tests. Wasn't too bad.

Made some new friends, had a great time. Bunch of rebels, outlaws, off-gridders, lunatics and other assorted vagabonds in this part of the state, but hey, they're friendly and entertaining. What more could you ask for?
