Former 18D w/ B/1/10 and B/3/10
Afternoon brothers,
My name is Rob L, I was an 18D (class 04-04) with B/1/10 and B/3/10; I made a trip to Balad, Afghanistan and Africa while in Germany, went back to SOTF-C for another Iraq trip when I got to B/3/10.
My Grandfather enlisted as Infantry with 10th Mountain, got his battlefield commission in the Italian Mountains in WWII and went over to Intel, retiring as the Commandant of the ASA at Devens; I have another posting looking for info to his "honorary Green Beret" plaque I was given before going to Germany, if anyone has info it would be greatly appreciated.
I recently wrote (well, took about 4 years) and released a memoir of my time in 10th group titled "Love Me When I'm Gone" that seems to have stirred up a few folks here...that apparently weren't inspired or bothered by "The Green Berets" movie/book or "Ballad of the Green Berets!"
The book was signed off by all of the members of my ODA, the family of the brother we lost in Afghanistan, The Pentagon, SOCOM and various intel agencies. I jumped through every hoop that was set up, and am giving a portion of all profits to SOWF, USA Cares, the family of the brother we lost and others; if you have a gripe with the book, and it starts with "I didn't read it but...." I'm not going to pay much attention for all of the reasons listed above.
So that's me; love me, hate me, or somewhere in between; my brothers stand with me, all signed off on it, and I'm not really bothered by anything else. If you read it, I hope you enjoy it, it's getting great reviews from the military community.
I'm jumping off and writing fiction now, so maybe those people in the community who are up in arms won't be as opposed to those ones!

Thank you all for leading the way and for the incredible wealth of knowledge you've provided for those of us who are grateful to learn. I'm a late-bloomer, joined the NC Army National Guard last year at 30. Currently I'm a 12N over in Rockingham.
Again, thanks.

ArkSeven Introduction
Hello,
I spent over 20 years in 5th SFG(A) serving in both 1st BN and 2nd BN, serving most of my time on the ODA's (where we all want to stay). I retired a few years ago and have enjoyed the retiree's lifestyle (about to go nuts looking for that rush)!
I retired as a MSG having told branch to get bent in trying to send me to the SGM academy in TX for a year, after 7 years as a MSG and three years of promotion declination's I figured I best retire before they kick me to the curb or send me to SWCS.

Traveler06
I joined the forum a couple years ago, but haven't been around much. I decided to reconnect after coming across the letter supporting the 2nd Amendment. SFQC Class 5-88 (18E), retired 18Z; done some law enforcement, and now doing security contracts overseas when I can find the work.

Introduction
I am an 18E from 3rd now in 19th. I am also attending Duke for my MBA. Looking forward to being able to blend the skill sets of the quiet professional with that of global business. I look forward to being on and off the site as I may post for some feedback from old timers as I am still in and able to contribute to change.

Hello Everyone
I hope this introduction finds you all doing well. I heard of this site from the "Get Selected" book. My name is John and I am from NY. I am a 27 year old Army vet with 8 years of service. I got out less then a year ago and have faced some real tough times adjusting to civilian life and am longing to go back in as an 18X. Unfortunately I just found out the MOS closed for E5 and above just two days before I was going to get my physical. So as of now I'm just attending college and training for SFAS on my own until (god willing) the MOS opens up again using trainingforwarriors, MMA/BJJ, and lots of road marching. I chose the name lighthouse because it is what I'm looking for in a sense. The metaphorical guiding light on my journey to earning my place to fight by your sides. With all the resources available now I'm looking forward to getting in the fight and earning my place in the SF group and family. I welcome any advice or messages(even though I'm sure most of everything has been covered in the threads). All the best gentlemen.
John

My name is C. H. (5th GRP 2002-2006)
I was a BN S2 for 1/5 for OIF 1 , after that went to Group. I can honestly say the men of 5th GRP are the most proffessional soldiers, I have ever had an opportunity to work with in the Army, and it was truly an honor.

Hello all,
The names Tony, I’m in 5th SFG (A) currently serving abroad. A former 1/10 SFG (A) buddy of mine recommended this site while back and I'm just now getting around to setting up an account. I'm glad he did because It’s refreshing to get the ‘old timers’ take on some of the issues that people within our community hold near and dear to our hearts. Anyway, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

I am a retired 18Z with 24 years service. I enlisted in Sep 1969 and retired Sep 1993 when I wasn't picked up for SGM. (Might have had something to do with refusing the SGM Academy).
In my 24 years I served with the 3d, 5th, 6th, 7th, 1/10 Bad Toelz (80-81), SFD(A)E Bad Toelz (82-83) and TF2AE (CCC)(71-72). I also had a two year tour with ROTC in South Dakota.
In RVN I was the one two on RT SCAR (South Carolina) at Kontum. After Vietnam I was one of the unfortunants that were sent to Supply School and served with A/1/5th SF. After getting my SF MOS back (Heavy Weapons) I served on ODA 515 until transfered to Germany. At Toelz I was in B Co before transfering to the S3 Tng Office of Det Europe. Later I was Training NCO for th 7th SFG(A). My last assignment was as Company Operations Sergeant for A/3/3 SFG(A).

Hey everybody my name is Mitch Carman, I am from Eugene, OR but currently going to college in St. Charles, MO. I am 18 years old and finishing up my freshman year of college before enlisting and going to the Army. I have been an athlete all my life and am on scholarship to play football but it has always been my dream to join the military and I feel that it will be better for me right now. Looking forward to have some of my questions answered on here to help me choose my path.
