I wonder how many casualties the 9MM round caused in WWII?

I would suspect that the vast majority were from SMGs, which should add velocity, accuracy, and the probability of multiple hits to the equation.

Agree TR. I was trying to expand somewhat on the capability of the round.
I think shooting and real estate have three things in common; location, location, location.

Concur.
With conventional ammunition, after shot placement comes penetration and caliber.
All other things being equal, given the choice between making a 9x19mm (.355 caliber) hole and making a .45 (.451 caliber) hole, I'll choose to make the larger hole.

I was thinking the same thing as I wrote my last post in this thread....
I'm betting there were a fair number, but also a very large number of 9mm used to get the job done.
The people I usually pick on are the 6' 200lb plus gents with big hands and still opt for a 9mm when they should be throwing "man-hole covers" (.45) instead.

I can assure you that there were several NVA, that were reduced to fertilizer, by a particular Browning Hi-Power!!!

Simple math
A whole lot tougher making a 9mm go to .45 inches than for a 45 to squeeze down to 9mm.

Patrick,
I would suggest you read the board rules before you post again.
If you're attempting to goad me into a retort you have failed. Most that know me know what I think of glocks.
Again, read the rules or go elsewhere, you will not be told again.

If it has to be 9mm, Sig P226. I would personally prefer a Kimber .45

HiPower MKIII,
Beretta 92,
then a Sig in that order. A lot of guys shoot the Sigs well but I do better with a beretta, I just hate the safety/decock on the slide being backwards.

My issued pistol is a FN Browning Hi-Power. Only ´customizing´I´ve done was to install Pachmayr grips.Very reliable weapon. I wouldn´t exchange it for an other model.
