Sorry for the delayed response, gents.
Yes, I drive a Ford but it's not a truck Convertible Mustang. And, before you ask, no, I'm not gay or going through a midlife crisis.
On another note, I just received my copy of Chosen Soldier. It was recommended to me by my SF recruiter. Looking forward to long, sleepless nights....

Out in the open...
I've spent several months lurking here while I consider how I can best serve my country moving forward... now that I have developed my SA to the point where hopefully I can avoid stepping on my crank, I thought it would be a good time to introduce myself. Thanks to the QP's for such an informative and well-run site.
The majority of my recent personal experience with the QP's consists of repeated lessons in why drinking with guys from 7th Grp. is not a good idea...

Greetings y'all! My name is Scott O'D and I'm looking to go 18x. I'm going to take a few months to get into top shape before enlisting, which I plan on doing in December. I'm currently an elementary school teacher (K - 5, D/HH) in Naples, FL. I look forward to reading everything on your website.

hi!
I'm not in the military but I am deeply interested in all that is involved in it. I'll mostly be reading and make the occasional post.

I am Jim Weldon and this is my first successfull visit to this site. I am currently a member of SFA Chapter 78 in Cypress, Ca. I spent time with the 3rg Group at Ft. Bragg a tour with 5th Gp. in"67/68" and a few years with the 12th Group at San Pedro, Ca. I am currently still employed with Boeing at Long Beach, Ca where we build the C17 Transport. I am a Project Manager in Facilities. A few years ago I signed up for the "List" but couldn't handle all the traffic so I backed off it. Welcome reply from any of you that rememberr me. AKA " Wino Weldon", " 32whiskey ", " Bacsi " etc.

Intro
Greetings, all.
I'm Constantine. I'm a civilian currently living in Massachusetts. I have no military experience whatsoever, but I'm going to be signing an 18X contract soon. I'm an engineer by trade. I've been arriving at this decision (and reading this site) for the past several months. This site has, directly and indirectly been the most useful resource I've found so far. By indirectly, I mean that many of the other useful sources of information I've found grew out of leads I've read here. (E.g. PS -> GET SELECTED -> The Company They Keep, Inside Special Forces by National Geographic, etc.). Thanks, everyone, QPs and others alike.

I am in a similar situation. My name is Robert. I am 22. I have not served in the military. I am going to be dedicating the next few months to training myself mentally and physically before I enlist 18X. I probably will not post again until I do. This site has been a great value to me. Thank you to to those who keep it running. Thank you to all Quiet Professionals.

My Introduction
My name is Tyler R Kerns and I joined this site maybe to get soem advise form the people that have been through what i maybe getting myself into. I am about to join the Army and my job of choice was M.P. My recruiter says that it is the best thing for me but in the back of my mind there is somethings I am not to sure about. The reason I picked the Army was because all through high school I went throught Air Force J.R.O.T.C and Army J.R.O.T.C and I have known my recruiter for the past 4 years and he seems like he is looking out for my best interest. I have done alot of career test and all of them lead my to the Army. I have a hard time getting really interested in any jobs that I can get right now being an 18 year old male right out of high school. So all my life I have wanted to be a cop because I grew up in a low economy and it seemed like the cops around there did not really do what there job descriction said they should be doing "SERVE AND PROTECT" I feel like I have seen the world from the bottom of the barrel and I can help people that are in the situation that I was in and the people around me where in when I was little. Well that is just about my story if you have any advise for me that would be helpful it would be greatfully appreciated.

I also grew up and "seen the world from the bottom of the barrel".
You join the police to make a community better, you join Special Forces to make the world a better place. Your choice.
If you plan on your recruiter making your decisions for you, become a local LEO.

First off, I hope that Tyler R Kerns is a "Screen Name" and not really who you are!!!
If it is your real name, your "Situational Awareness" is severely lacking!!!
You have just "outed" yourself to the whole world" !!!!!
As for the "SERVE AND PROTECT" LEO motto. Nowhere in the Constitution are we granted the "Right to Protection"!! We have the second amendment. We have to protect ourselves!!
Good luck.
Later.
Martin
