I recently went through the process of reenlisting (prior service 18E) and I noticed something pretty startling. The only MOS open for prior service soldiers is 18X. This wouldn't be alarming if I didn't see what I saw- two 18xers who were not physically or mentally ready to go the SF route. Neither of them knew the difference between rangers or special forces. They literally had no idea what it entailed.
Isn't it a little crazy to bring a large number of guys who have no drive to be SF and are joining because it is the only option available?
On a good note the boys at Bragg handling the prior service program really do take care of their own. Nothing but top notch treatment and making me feel at home again. Good to be part of the family again!
