I'm torn between that GAU and a Quad .50 . Of course you would need a much larger vehicle for that, but it would be a hell of a gun truck for convoy security. What the hell, as long as Im dreaming I'll take both. GAU up front and Quad .50 pulling rear security.

Reaper, finally I find something I can talk about. The Mini-gun doesn't shake the helicopter that much at all. We run the 4500 round Dillon can and have shot entire 4500 rounds in one continuous burst to no ill effect on the gun. You really didn't want to touch the barrels after that, though. With the mini-gun, you don't really need an aiming device as the tracers pretty much do the pointing for you. Kinda like it's own laser aiming device. See if you can get some SLAP ammo for the gun. SLAP is the Sabo Light Armor Piercing ammunition. It's an evil round for doing in vehicles and items behind cover. It will eat up those mud type buildings you see in that part of the world like nobody's business. The only problem with the battery operated gun system is that when you have run the battery down, the weapon can experience lag in the feed system, where the booster is either pushing harder, or not as hard as the gun drive motor. Might cause jams. The Dillon Feeder/Delinker is the way to go. I'd suggest two per gun system for redundency. But, they clear very easily. Also, use the Dillon closed box ammo chutes. They are much nicer than the older ones still in service and don't allow links to become jammed in the shoot, inducing seperations in the ammo chute. Or, just go for one of these instead. GAU-19 .50cal mini-gun. http://www.gdatp.com/products/lethal...mmer/gau19.htm

Ryan,

Can you PM me the part number for the enclosed feed chutes? Im tired of dealing with jams, even with the chute covers.

Luke,
It'll be a couple of weeks until I'm back down at Patrick, but I'll try to remember. Contact Dillon as well. They have the closed chutes.

Looks like there were a few "orgasmic moments" there.

Trust me when I say it is. Being a LEO and having never been in the military this is allot of fun.

This event is the annual "Bulletfest" held just south of my location in Ohio. This is year #4. The firing line averages 100-175 yards long with the range approximately 150-200 yards deep. I didn't make it this year but made 02 and 03. Believe it or not, it is a bigger event then Knob Creek from what people tell me who attend both. You pretty much name it and it is there including small cannons. I was fortunate to hook up with a guy from out of state who brings about 15-25 weapons to this meet. Most of what he brings are subguns and variants of the AR-18, with some FAL's, AK's and a select fire .22 to round out the list. The biggest kick I get is from shooting his RPD, Swedish K, and the "Sterling" AR-18.

Post M240B vs. Dillon M134D

http://www.truveo.com/M134-Gatling-G.../id/2363492808
Personally, I am a true fan of the M134... Dillon has a bunch of movies out there promoting their product... But this one between the M240 and the M134 is my personal favorite because I've seen both used in aircraft and the difference is obviously noticeable just by the rate of fire.

Also, I love the scoring in the end when coupled up with the statistics of what the M240's rate of fire is...

"The gunner will fire 10 seconds, or 130 rounds..."

I'm no math whiz but with the M134 firing at 3,000 RPM(rounds per minute) it should have put around 500 rounds down on that target.

And the scoring says...

M240B: 12/130 rounds hit: .09% accuracy
M134D: 110/500 rounds hit : .22% accuracy

That's a decent jump in accuracy and makes me feel a little bit better about being able to reach out and touch someone... yes?

Have a good one,
Sand-Man
