Thank you very much for taking the time putting in the effort to put Get Selected together. I believe the knowledge I have gained from the book will help me a great deal, not only when I get to SFAS, but from the spot I stand now.

WM,
Received my receipt for my recent donation and the privilege to have given.... But what really made me feel good was that my Coach Mike Ditka was a sponsor and supporter of the program........ Big Mike is a living legend in the hearts of all Chicago Bears fans.... He is the kind of guy who is made of the "right stuff".....

Just Finished Reading....
Get Selected a few days ago, and I myself could not put it down. I have since put on order several of the titles recommended by Lt. Col Martin, as I am sure they will also be usefull tools in my preparation for SFAS. I am actually re-reading Get Selected and highlighting all they key points I feel I need to remember the most. Thanks again for the great advice Warrior Mentor.

Got the book in the mail two days ago. Read it in short order. The author claims that it's an easy read and full of the information that you would give to your kid if he wanted to go to SFAS.
It is.
The book is solid. On a first time through ( I'm going through with a little more detail now) the most striking thing was how you phrase a question. Instead of asking "CAN" I complete SFAS/Q, ask "HOW" can I complete SFAS/Q. I tell you, when you change all those "cans" to "hows" it instantly boosts your confidence and optimism.
Who would have thought that one little word could make such a difference.
Thanks for a great resource!

Where will we be in 20 Years?
Been working the numbers to see where GET SELECTED is and where we'll be....
looks like could break $200,000 in total donations to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation this year!
This is 20% of the way to ultimate goal...it's taken 5 years to get this far...will keep chipping away at it...

I bought 2 copies of this book.
One was for my father, who was very curious about the entire process.
The other was for me, of course.
Very enjoyable and informative read. It will remain nearby for a while.

Special Operations Warrior Foundation Dinner 17SEP2009
Thanks to all who have purchased GET SELECTED.
Here's where the royalties are going...
In the photo, from left to right:
GEN(Ret) Pete Schoomaker*, former SOCOM Commander and Chief of Staff of the Army;
LTC Joe Martin, Special Forces Officer and author of Get Selected; and
COL(Ret) John Carney*, President and CEO of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
* Both GEN Schoomaker and COL Carney are veterans of Operation EAGLE CLAW, the Iranian hostage rescue attempt.
Here's the article about the night:

Thanks for the great resource, sir. I'm making my way through the reading list and it's really helping me internalize what you discuss in Get Selected!
