I saw one of those Savage Tactical packages with the leupold scope, harris bipod, etc...looked pretty sweet...

Does anyone know of anywhere that is offering a REM 700 LTR package? I know a few of the cop houses used to offer the PSS packages...

the remington part number for the 700 TWS is 5711.

The TWS package includes a Leupold® Vari-X™ III (3.5 x 10) scope with a Duplex™ reticle and flip-open lens covers. A Harris bipod, a Michaels 1" Quick Adjust™ sling with swivels, a rugged Pelican® hard case, and sample of Remington gun care products to round out the system. It's only available in .308 Win./26"BBL.

don't dig the duplex scope. and they don't allow you to swap out for a mildot. the package is the package.

Right...that's for the regular .308...I was wondering if they had a similiar package with the shorter LTR barrel.....I guess not, thanks anyway.

OK, Rifle Project is under way. My Savage model 10FP-LE2 arrived today. Now, I need optics. Working where I do, I figured I would just go with the best we have in the warehouse here. I present: The Leapers Golden Image 3-9X40

You may read more about this Superb Piece of Glass here

What else is there? Oh yes, the Stock. I find Savage's factory Synthetic hard to beat, so why improve on perfection I say. Scope Base, No need to go throwing money around, I have a scope base for another rifle along with a Dremel tool at the house. With those tools, I figure I could probably mount that wonderful piece of Glass to just about anything.

Hey, why bother with that factory stock?

Just get a 2x6 and whittle one out.

Matter of fact, skip the pricey rings and use duct tape.

And you really don't need the barrel if you have a piece of 1/4" pipe. Just wrap it real heavy with the tape, the first round should blow it out to .30.

You could also use a bolt type lock for the action if you are low on bucks.

Some good tips here:

Yeah, I kind of used the Brilliant ideas of the Birdman group as a template for my Masterpiece

Really This time

All kidding aside, This is the scope I am putting on my rifle. I picked it up from these guys yesterday and it is Very Nice. I plan to mount it with a base from Ken Farrell and Leupold PRW rings. I'll follow that all up with an HS Precision Stock.

It's looking good, nice glass, can't go wrong with Ken Farrell base or HS Precision stock, but you may want to take a look at Precision Reflex rings, which will withstand the recoil of a .50 cal. and your glass won't budge, you can check them at pri-mounts.com or mountsplus.com.

I'll get the mount and rings as funding allows, but I've almost got it together.
