Best,

So which one do I want? I'd like one that will fit two long guns, one with a bunch of stuff attached (optic, light, etc.).

RL - Pick your poison.

3100 - carbines
3200 - assault rifles (civ equiv)
3300 - SWS (most bolt guns)

All cases will fit two rifles.

FWIW - Peregrino

Hey, check with Sam's Club. I bought a Starlight double rifle case from them 2 years ago. It cost me 69.95 and I couldn't resist. Took it to Africa with heavy gun and accessories in it. Sold my Pelican afterwards and have purchased other Starlights since. If they are not in stock, ask customer service if they are still available in other warehouses. They were by far the lowest price I have ever seen.

Sam's deal was a one time overrun, sale was nationwide and will not happen again.

Some went as cheap as 39 bucks. No more.

Sorry to rain on the parade.

Mossberg 500? In the world of fighting shotguns I don't think I've ever heard anyone mention employing a Mossburg......

IIRC, it is issue and is one of the two pump guns currently in the US military inventory.

One would think that a prestigious member of a prominent law firm could afford the Remington 870 Express, if not the Benelli, eh?

Yes TR I was aware the military used them, lowest bidder I'm sure. Probably the only deal keeping Mossburg alive and the very reason the military made the purchase.

Remington is the way to go for offensive shotguns.

I have changed over to Starlight cases, they are lighter, better made, and easier to deal with.

They regularly run sales and advertise on the shooting related boards like http://www.snipercountry.com/forsale...ay_reverse.asp

Peregrino and I have both scored good deals on great cases with them before. The most recent sale is currently expired, but has the info.

We've discussed these cases several times as quality alternatives for more expensive (and heavier) Pelican or Hardig/Storm cases. Most of us with military experience have seen/used examples of them (probably without noticing the manufacturer) because Starlight gets a lot of contracts to case sensitive equipment. TR got me interested in them several years ago; since then I've acquired five of their cases. Can't beat the price and if you live in the FBNC area it's worth the trip to drive to the warehouse and shop in person. They're good people and they've usually got scratch & dent stuff not listed anywhere for fantastic prices that they'll be happy to part with. They're especially supportive of MIL/LEO guys (they customized my stuff while I waited - and I enjoyed the tour/data dump; never even noticed the wait).

+1
just a dig from old thread, but another thumbs up for Starlight case and Brack Wilson, the owner I believe. As Peregrino noted, very supportive of MIL/LEO. Brack went above and beyond to get me my 52" case. The padlock holes and latches are all lined up with metal, whereas Storm cases' are not. It comes with an automatic pressure equalization valve. So I jumped up and down on the case as hard as I could and it sure worked. The wheels are more protruded out than Pelican and Storm but as a result the container space is much larger to fully fit two full sized long range rifles. If you live in NC, you'd be supporting local business as well and buying American

The new latch system does not bite anymore. It uses metallic rod with spring parallel to the case horizontal plane. It has to be pressed and the latch peeled at the same time to open. Hard to imagine how it could ever open accidentally (2 different, perpendicular force engaging at the same time). The contact area in the latches with the rod are lined with metal as well.

On the mention of Brownells, I do not know if you know this but they offer wholesale prices to military and police on 90% of their products. Any parts I need I get from them dirt cheap because of this. All I had to do was send them an email from my AKO. I would bet cases would be the same deal. To figure the wholesale price in the book they send, it is the first four digits of the part number, or online, it automatically deducts to price on checkout. Hope that helps you out.

Yeah, the 870 bbl's don't overheat after 4 rounds, so you won't need an extra.

I did not know that. The only reason I even keep an AKO account is for the military pro deals that require such.

If you are in Fayetteville and an 18, TSE Inc. will hook you up with special pricing (dealer cost). They will have to order it for you, so be preppared to wait a week or so. When TSE says they support the community they mean it. Give Carl, Rich or Ed a call with the model number.
