Howdy from Texas

Hello all on Professional Soldiers,

I currently am a college sophomore going for a Civil Engineering major.
I plan on finishing out this semester and then shipping off with an 18X.

I have already met with my local recruiter the past few weeks and I am working on my paperwork to go to MEPS.

January is when I am aiming for a spot at 18X. So until then, I will be reading "Get Selected", along with other books recommended within Get Selected.

I have been physically preparing just for SF since this summer with Hard To Kill fitness programs.

Ever since I found out about SF I immediately knew I wanted to join.
Thanks to all of the Quiet Professionals and prospective Green Berets for imparting your knowledge to us!

Introduction

Hello all and thank you so much for making a space on your website for guests like myself. I have been preparing to go 18x after I finish my bachelor's degree for several years but experienced several issues that set me back. Regardless, I am continuing to push through and hope to be ready soon. The SF mission is so vital and unique. I sincerely hope to someday have the privilege of contributing to it. In the meantime, I am just trying to hit the 25m target.

Hello everyone

Greetings,

I made an initial post on here back in 2012 but I have been off the grid for quite sometime so I figured I would post again. I am a USAR Drill Sergeant serving out of FT Benning. I spent my first 6 years in the ARNG as an Infantry Scout, instructor and S3 NCO. I currently live in South Carolina and I am contemplating dropping my packet but would have to repay my bonus back.

I just started the 10-week THOR3 program yesterday and will let you know of the progress for future applicants to the program.

Thanks to those who post information that is critical in the determination factor for myself and other hopefuls out there.

Hello all

Hi everyone,

My name is Craig and I joined this group in hopes of getting more information about my wife’s father. Archie Lombardi served in the Army from late 1954 until 1975 primarily with the 7th SFG. If anyone knew Archie we’d love to hear from you.

Thanks and thank you all for your service,
Craig

Good evening everyone.

My name is Michael and I currently live in Reading, Pennsylvania and formerly from Baltimore, Maryland not far from the 20th SFG Detachment in Glen Arm. I have been reading the forums for many years. While I was a Maryland State Trooper it provided me a lot of helpful tips to improve my running, pushups, sit-ups, and overall fitness level. I am now looking into joining the Guard and pushing for an 18X/Rep 63 Contract to serve with the Glen Arm Detachment if selected. I appreciate everyone's time and am glad to be here.

Michael

Former 18D recently introduced

Former 18D and member of the infamous "dirty dozen" 300f1 class of '92. If anyone recognizes me from there or maybe ODA 376/373 in the Haiti/Uganda days give me a shout! Currently working as a family practice NP (although in orthopedics right now). Every day is a great day to be retired.

Just another 18x post

Hello everybody.

I would go by “Peregrine” but I had some issues with registration that caused me to just make a second account. Shouldn’t matter too much considering I will be pretty quiet having never donned a uniform, let alone The Beret.

I've been on here for a while, however just recently finished the course and will be staying in NC as an 18B. I am unsure what the vetting requirements are but I can provide whatever is needed.

I am mostly just reading, but I am interested in any input for a ~250 round, 25 meter flat range, rifle and pistol POI focused on intermediate level shooters. I'll make a post in the Bravo Training thread with what I have so far.

Hello everyone,

I spent an enlistment in the National Guard as a 12N and worked my civilian job as a Law Enforcement Officer in Missouri. After my National Guard Contract ended I enlisted as an 18X in the Regular Army around Dec 2018.

I was selected in class 07-19 and am currently waiting to start the SFQC.

I have been lurking on this board for quite some time, thank you for this open source of valuable information.

Cheers /885

Hello,

I'm a 25 year-old master's student based in Boston seriously considering joining after I graduate. REP-63/18X or bust.

Hopeful about the perspectives and advice I'd get here

My point??

Until such time as you have something worth saying, I would strongly suggest you spend a lot of time reading, searching and keeping YOUR MOUTH SHUT.

Hints:
  • Find the Reaper's post "A Message to Garcia" read it, then read it again
  • Use your google-foo and hunt for your answers, both here and on the web.
  • Ask questions sparingly, there are no "new and improved" questions. Someone has already answered it. Just remember that color, date, temperature, and altitude are universal variables and don't alter the answer.

Did I tell you to find and use the SEARCH button??

Be advised, There are several titles you can earn while here.
  • At the top of the list are those with Quiet Professional. They are vetted BTDT Special Forces qualified members..
  • At the bottom are those with FTFSI & BANNED,, Don't be Carl and WIN either of these monikers.

Additionally, learn the use of OPSEC and PERSEC. This site like most has search spiders running all the time. Yahoo, Google, and persons of dubious distinction are always happy to collect YOUR information.. Proper names, addresses, unit locations....

This is a protective warning, Nuff Said??

For those that strive to become a QP, congratulation and good luck.

For the families, Thank you for your support. Your loved ones will need 110%.

For those on AD, Reserve, & Guard here for an education, Thank you for your service..

New Guy

Hello, my name is Alex. I'm a college student about to graduate in 20 or 21. I have wanted to be a soldier since age 8. Yet I didn't know what branch or job until I heard of Green Beret- US Army Special Forces. I don't come from a military family, my great grandfather fought in WWI, and my grandfathers served (Enlisted in last hours of WWII), they are the only member of the family who served. I heard this website from a book called Get Selected! for Special Forces: How to Successfully Train for and Complete Special Forces Assessment & Selection. I plan to go to officer candidate school and see I can get in 18x. My question is what the Green Berets job, is it remotely close to the movies Green Beret with John Wayne or The 12 Strong (I am aware they're movies, not a solid documentary). My second is what are officers to be expected is it more than leading your squad or platoon to battles? I would appreciate any response or critiques.

Introduction

Greetings,

First off I would like to thank all the Special Forces soldiers for their dedicated service and sacrifice for this country and their brothers in arms. Also thank you for your willingness to share your vast knowledge on this site to help others on their path to SF.

I am a 22 year old college student in my senior year of my engineering degree program. I am also a 13J in the Army National Guard. My goal is to go to SFAS in the spring of 2020, when I graduate college and my NG contract is up.

I have used this site since high school to learn and research about SF. I am very thankful for the QPs on this site for all the information I have gained over the years and have the upmost respect for the job you do.

Now back to PT.
