Ok gang, it's that time of year once again: USASOC/USAJFKSWCS Sniper Competition!
Pertinent American Kami related announcements:
1) I shall once again be manning a table in the vendor tent, so if you will be in the area, please stop by, say hello, and check out the gear. I am introducing a bunch of all new, very cool stuff this time around.
2) I am officially introducing a brand new knife pattern at the shoot, the GITFO. Hand signed prototype knives #2 and #4 will be going to the first place team. Coffee is for closers.
3) Most importantly: Hand signed GITFO prototype #1 will be raffled off on location, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to support The Green Beret Foundation. $5 per slot, buy as many slots as you want, winner selected via random number generator. I wasn't sure this knife would be finished in time until about an hour ago, so I'm putting this deal together on the fly. I'll have final details about when and where the drawing will be held once I'm on location, but it would be nice to do it at the awards ceremony Friday evening. Stop by either my table or The GBF table to enter in the drawing. Let's raise a whole mess of money to support The GBF!
Thanks gang, and see you there!

I was able to spend some time with DJ at the USASOC Sniper Competition and he has some nice gear.
Extremely nice guy and great attention to detail that shows in his products.
Thanks, DJ!

It was especially entertaining watching the durability demonstration of one of his axes busting a chain wrapped around a pine tree. (The demo wasn't staged for an audience which made it even more entertaining.) The chain was a worthy opponent and nobody from around here gives a crap about pine trees so it was fun to watch the exertions. The ax eventually won with no discernible marks (let alone damage) Nice product! I certainly won't be using my Gransfors Bruk to duplicate the feat.

For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

Reaper and Peregrino, it was great meeting you guys! Appreciate the kind words. It was a privilege to be able to be there to support the guys and the competition. There were so many amazing folks there. Big thanks to Mark and Curtis for their tireless endeavors and hospitality, and Curtis specifically for tour of Pineland.
Peregrino: The chain was the easy part. It was those cheap Brinks locks that were a pain. The shackles on Masterlocks are hardened, so they just snap right apart. The shackles on the Brinks are much softer, so they bend all to hell and actually require a lot more effort when you're muscling them open. But leverage = winning.
Swatsurgeon and JJ_BPK: Ask and ye shall receive.
And now, something REALLY important:
On the GITFO #001 prototype drawing: My original plan was to raffle the knife off at Sniper Comp as I mentioned in my previous post from 24 March, but we all know how plans sometimes get all sideways... Since there was no Green Beret Foundation table on location and also due to my needing to be focused on the guys standing immediately in front of me at the table, I decided to hold this raffle digitally, just as I did with the last one. I also figured I'd be able to reach even more people this way and thus raise more money for The GBF, which is what's really important. All pertinent details here: https://www.firstgiving.com/fundrais...cankami/goruck Please help me get the word out on this. Again, the raffle is for pre-production prototype #001 of my new GITFO knife, and is hand signed by yours truly. Thanks gang! Your support is greatly appreciated.

He only had one on the table, so I figured it would be rude to boost it.

HA!
Never thought a spork would need to be a controlled item...
QPs get special pricing on the version with the SF crest, and they are only available for those qualified to wear The Long Tab. I can also laser your ODA # on there if you wish.

Here are about half of the new GITFO knives, tumbled, ready for sharpening, sheaths, and shipping.
And two new midtech patterns I've got running right now. Green handles is Colubris II-M, coyote handles is Colubris II-S.

The wife laughs every time I eat with my engraved spork... I think she's just jealous. But mine is the 'special' oo-Ah spork! (poking DJ with a sharp stick, inside joke)

Hi, Bill
Bill,
Sorry I missed you in Eugene this year.
Passed by Creswell two weeks before on business in Ashland/White City.
Next time, perhaps?
Be safe.
Greg

Thanks guys!
Lan: Newer isn't always better, but in this case, I'm happy with how the pattern has evolved.
x SF Med: You should see my silverware drawer. More like a titanium drawer now. The wife is not even phased at this stage in the game.
Kasik: Did you mean to post that in one of Bill's threads?
