Hello,

I am a freshman ROTC cadet , and I have been lurking on this forum for a few months now. I enjoy reading what the community members have to say, and I am thankful for the opportunity to observe.

Hello and Thanks

I've lurked here in the past because this is one of my big interest areas and I have a number of friends who came out of your Alma Mater.

My background is in the sciences and spent my adult career as a scientist/engineer in the Defense Industry mostly (C) work at the SBI and one of the lesser known ones. Interests are too many to list but Mil History is a big one and I always dig deep. Also been a shooter since I was five, sought out the best instruction I could find and began instructing with a good group in SoCal in the early 80s (Defense oriented all platforms, all levels). Very proud to have had a role on projects which helped you all out from Desert Storm on.

Though I've not "been there nor done that" I make a great cheerleader and believe that I have more knowledge about things in your realms of expertise than the average person - which is simply an explanation of why I am a huge supporter.

Also, I was thoroughly intimidated to write anything here but one of the admins sent me a terrifically nice welcome email which I still appreciate today.

Bet I know at least a half dozen of you out there

Gentlemen all and a huge cut above the norm!

Best,
Kathy

Welcome aboard Seth.

I believe we worked together at USASFC(A).

Greetings to all, I appreciate the opportunity to take part in your online community.

I'm 27 years old and currently in corporate sales. I've been looking for a new career direction for about a year now because working in an office is going to be the death of me.

I learned of the 18x enlistment option a few months ago and I'm here to do my due diligence. Thanks.

Hello,

I am a 22 year old senior ROTC cadet at a small military college. I am majoring in psychology and will commission as an AD MP officer at the end of this year, with the goal of becoming a special forces officer in the future. I may have a question or two at some point but for the most part I am here to read, observe, and learn. Thank you for the opportunity to do so.

All the best,

Dubyah

Hello all,

I'm currently a student in the Qualification Course. I have been a long time reader of the site and found it very helpful as I prepped for SFAS. Here to continue to learn and maybe contribute what I can. Thank you to members who have taken the time to offer advice to those of us just starting the journey.

Introduction

Hello,

I'm 23 years old and recently graduated from UNLV with a BA in philosophy and minor in Mandarin Chinese. I intend to enlist with the National Guard with a Rep 63 contract (or patiently wait until a position opens).

I've spend hours and hours reading through the forums (when I'm not training) and am thankful for all the great information provided on this site. I've purchased and read Get Selected front and back multiple times and will continue to further educate myself on the history of the Army Special Forces.

This forum has already provided me with answers to all the questions I've had and for that I am, again, thankful!

You should join up. Not many employment opportunities in the real world for a PhD in Philosophy. Soldier/Philosophers are the stuff of legend.

yeah but, it is the soldiering that makes the great philosopher - not the other way around.

Hello

Hello. My name is Kyle. I reside in Evansville, Indiana. I work in emergency services and hold a few Bachelor's degrees from the University of Southern Indiana. I am a General Class Amateur Operator and volunteer for a variety of agencies and groups. I am a civilian.

I believe that the SF mission, character, mentality, attributes, and skill sets are vital to develop even in civilian life. I joined Professional Soldiers hoping to learn more and train in a manner where I follow what the best do.

Best of luck to those seeking SFAS. You can do it!
To those who have served and are serving: Thank you. Seriously.

Thanks for having me.
Respectfully,
Kyle

Thanks

Thanks for the site. It's great to have all this info to help folks best prepare.
I'm a 32 prior service looking at getting back into it. I love the SF mission (at least what I think I know about it) and hate that I didn't look into SF in my younger years.

Can't thank you enough for creating this site.

I'm 28 years old and a prior service 35M (Human Intelligence Collector) from 2005 to 2010. The wheels are in motion to sign that dotted line again as an 18X and chase what I feel I've been destined for.

Thanks for having me gentlemen

Hey gents, thanks for having me. Been lurking for a few years and finally decided to join.

Have had the privlege to meet and work with guys from 7th, 5th and 3rd in my time at Eglin, Campbell and JRTC rotations. Currently a 25U awaiting resassignment to 5th Group from 1BCT/101 ABN DIV (thanks to Chuck W and Eric F for that).

This is my failure to do so when I joined this page in 2010.
Here is my introduction.
I am a 30.
I am a Combat Vet with 7 years of service, 1.5 of that in Iraq (2003). I left on "bad terms" since I had an alcohol problem at the time and was removed from service accordingly. I was once a candidate for SFAS and was a non-select, I never quit.
Getting married young and having a child soon after was a decision I made that ultimately prevented me (with respect to my ex-wife and kid) from choosing to go back. I regret that decision since I am very far from being eligible to ever join again. (unless "I killed myself and was reincarnated", as the recruiter stated)..

In the last year and a half of my service, I turned to alcohol for my problems but eventually got help while I was in.. Consequently, I was too ashamed to contact my old friend and mentor Billy Neil. In August of 2009 I learned that he died on my enlistment date's 6 year anniversary: 22 March 2008, in Afghanistan.
I never knew...

Since then, I went down an even rougher path than alcohol and got into a lifestyle that would eventually straighten me out, or kill me. I became a literal "outlaw" in the eyes of most. I gave up on my future. I made a lot of mistakes, and ultimately I fucked up a lot of my life at the time.

I have been away from this board for the simple fact that I have nothing to offer except, support for those who have gone where I didn't make it.

Since my troubles, I have became a student again, started working an honest job, and have associated myself within circles that live with No Excuses, and No Mercy whatsoever.

I have owned my mistakes in this life, I have accepted those mistakes, and I don't repeat them. It has been a tough ride, but I am still here.

Again, it is my failure to introduce myself when I joined this board.
I am never sorry, but I do apologize for any disrespect, and I have much Love, Loyalty and Respect for those that do what I can't do because of my decisions.
