Here is a thumbnail of my Norinco 1911 that I have carried for over 10 years. It just came back from a smith after being refinished and reworked for total reliability. currently it rides in a Milt Sparks VM II or a Kramer horsehide scabbard.
I also have been shooting a M&P 45C for several months. I am waiting for some leather so I can try this as an every day carry. My old back needs a rest from a 1911.
Also, I picked up a Kahr CW-45 as a possible carry gun. It is light and small and conceals well. I need to shoot another several hundred rounds. The chamber is very tight. It chokes easily on my reloads.
There are also several other 1911s, a Les Baer Super Tac and an STI 9mm Trojan that are too pretty to carry. They are for range fun.

I did it, I spent the money and I got the HK45C.
Put 100 rounds through it yesterday after I bought it. I do not even begin to deserve that gun. I'll practice and maybe one day I will be half as good a shot as that machine should have.
Thanks for the advice. Pictures soon.

HK USP .45 vs. Sig P220
Gentlemen, I noticed a lot of you guys like the HK USP .45. I'm currently looking at the USP and Sig P220 for home/self defense. Are there any issues with either of these firearms that you know of? I like the Sig P226, and the P220 seems to be like a .45 version of the P226

Upon assembly of the M1911, when one puts the sear and disconnector together properly, it looks like a Klingon spaceship, and you can have fun playing with it; one can do this with neither the Sig nor the HK.
Seriously, they're both as reliable and accurate as long as you are.
There's plenty of available information elsewhere, as well.

I cannot speak for the SIG but for the HK them seem to shoot bullet holes through bullet holes right out of the box and have a nasty tendency not to break down. (bad business for gun-smiths)

HK Tactical
Got one, hate it. Sights are too high, grip the size of a 20lb sledgehammer handle. Feels like a target pistol. Prefer my 1911A1 Commercial (1966 production, Pre-Series 70, 80, etc.) modified with trigger job and slim grips otherwise stock.

The HK and the SIG are good guns. They are reliable and accurate. The Sig only holds 8 rounds where the HK has 12. The HK doesn't feel good in my hands so I'm not a fan. Take a look at the Springfield XD 45. It's a good shooting gun and feels better to me. It's also very reliable, accurate and durable.

How it feels.
Pretty much as stated above....How it fits your hand, comfortable = less stress.less stress ----> easier shooting.
Also hold one and with closed eyes aim...then open your eyes and see what the natural point of aim is with that gun...
I don't like Glock for that reason.. All aim way low for me. I've held a fired HK and was uncomfortable (and I don't have small hands) Walther, Ruger, and Springfields all feel good and aim natural for me. Point of aim and grip comfort.. Just feel them out. With practice there's little difference in performance.
I know I'll catch shit for that but...Hey!

Any other Ruger fans want to chime in? I never thought I'd buy one because I always listened to the negative comments about them. I've owned and fired a slew of handguns to include a few of the European ones. After firing the bosses P-97DC I decided to try one and bought a P-95. True, they are inexpensively made and don't have the pedrigree of some of the European imports, but if you know how to shoot they shoot, they are not extremely expensive, their built like tanks, and they are made in America. I'm going to keep it for awhile but next on the list is probably going to be a SIG P220.
