Harry Reid didn't vote for his own gun control bill. That gives him the opportunity to bring it up again, when he has more support.
POTUS put on a show about how disappointed he was that "common sense" legislation didn't pass.
Using this to gain more seats in the HR - evil Rep's don't care about the "safety of our children".
All about politics, nothing else.

That number is probably significantly smaller when compared to the number of "progressive entitlement" folks that have been added to the left wing voting roles. The Socialist State has grown by millions.
