Already kinda been done. I saw an article on a 12 gauge derringer in a gun rag back in the 80's. Thing only had about enough barrel to contain the shell, and a big long trigger. Looked pretty awesome, and they actually shot the thing, but I'm not sure I'd want to. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
