SFAS

I have a question. I am prepping to attend SFAS in April. I am following the SFAS 5 week workout. The first forced march on there says to use 30 pounds for 3 miles. However, I have been using 65 pounds for all distances. Is this a smart thing to do? Is it wise to go above the recommended weight or should I stick with the program to the letter? 30 pounds just seems to be to light for me.
