Todd McInnis, 41, of Capel Mill Rd, Candor, passed away on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2008 as the result of an accident on his farm.

Todd was born on April 10, 1967 to John and Velma McInnis. He was a farmer by profession, recognized by Townsend Farms as one of the outstanding poultry producers in their company.

Todd's life was full and rich and he spent it in continuous service to his country, his community and his family.

In service to his country, Todd proudly spent 8 years in the US Army's 82nd Airborne Division, retiring in 1993. He continued to serve after retirement, actively supporting the US Army Special Forces and the Robin Sage exercises until his death.

In service to his community, Todd was a State-certified firefighter and Captain in the Mt. Creek Fire Department for many years, protecting the lives and property of his neighbors. He was known to all of his neighbors, family and friends, as the first to call and help for any situation or cause.

In service to his family, Todd was a loyal, faithful husband to his wife, a loving father to his children, and devoted son to his parents. He was a close and true friend to his brothers, and was deeply committed to his large extended family.

Todd was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L.W. McInnis of Norman, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Waller of Trenton, NC. He is survived by his parents; his wife Shelia McInnis of the home; children Maxine, Samantha, and Luke, all of the home; brother Johnny; brother Dale, sister-in-law Thomasa, and nephew Ryan of Ellerbe; father and mother-in-law Edwin and Margaret Richardson of Ellerbe; brother in-law Eddie Richardson of Ellerbe; sister-in law and brother-in law Kristi King and David King and nephew Will of Pell City, Alabama; D.D.; Jackson, and many other good friends, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

A celebration of Todd's life will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 2:00 at a graveside service at the burial plot on his farm, with Rev. Donnie Davis presiding. As Todd would have wished, casual dress is requested.

Memorials in Todd's honor may be sent to the Todd McInnis Memorial Fund with The Fidelity Bank, P.O.Box 459, Ellerbe, NC 28338, Mt. Creek Fire Department, 248 Godfrey Rd., Ellerbe, NC 28338, or the Ellerbe Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 148, Ellerbe, NC 28338.

Todd lived his life on his own terms, excelled in all of his efforts, and will be missed by all who knew him.

Condolences may be made online at www.carterfuneral.net.

Carter Funeral Home of Ellerbe is assisting the McInnis family.
