So this is what I have to look forward to?

I got a chance to take an APFT adminstered by the SF recruiters on post last week. After stretching out and warming up, we were briefed on how they would conduct the test. They told us that they would count the first ten reps and then they'd go silent until the time was elasped. No counting down, no encouragement, no nothing. We would not be told our scores after the test, we just had to do the best that we could. I guess that since so many soldiers are used to getting some type of reinforcement(negative or positive), this APFT psyched them out. After the push up and sit ups the whispers came "hey man did you count my reps?, I think I did sixty, I think I coulda did more, but I'm used to them counting down the time, etc". Then guys started milling around the scorers trying to get a glimpse of their PT cards. So already the fact that they didn't know how they were doing, was making guys stressed out. Everyone that I've talked to said that during Selection, guys assess themselves out, because they think that they aren't doing as well as they should, so they quit. I haven't done anything yet besides sign up for the June class and take this PT test, but I can see how this could happen.
