Nice article,, but with tinges of a PR Ruger Groupie?
At 10lbs and 20inch barrel, the 308 is not a "hunter".
I also think the niche market of "entry" level 1000yd shooters will love it, but hard corp pros will go hand built maga-buck-monsters.
With the current shift to the longer 300 WM and other long range rounds, I wounder if they will come out with long throw receiver??
Is there a Army RFQ floating for a new sniper rifle?? I pretty sure I read that the Marines are looking?

I think it's more for the tactical comp shooter than hunter. The 6.5CM will do really well but since the bolt face is no different, the 308 was a no brainer. Plus it's still the most popular caliber especially when people don't want to reload.

You can buy factory loaded 6.5 CM 140 grn from several mfgrs with match grade performance ,and it's usually a few dollars less than 175 grn SMK 308.

Yep, me likey.
That 6.5 CM is a flaaaat solid round. Anyone correct me on this, but I think it's flatter than the 300 WM too?
Made ballistic charts for .308. 5.56, and 6.5 CM 9 years ago while competing with a buddy in a local "sniper" match. That 6.5 CM allowed for so much mistakes in the wobble zone or distance call that we were able to engage sub-MOA target (golf ball, tennis ball etc) at 550 yards. The match winner shot 6.5 CM as well out of AI chassis with all the bells and whistles
