How to spend $2500.00?

I would like to solicit the advice/opinions of the members of this board on the following resource allocation challenge.
Hypothetically, an individual has the following weapons:
a.) A basic, plain vanilla, M-4 carbine
b.) A couple of pistols in calibers ranging from .380, 9mm,
.40 S&W.45acp
c.) A couple of shotguns
d.) A couple of hunting rifles.
e.) A modest amount of ammunition, and magazines for each weapon

The individual wants to maximize the utility and flexibility of his small collection for personal/home defense, hunting, and sport shooting. Given the somewhat, unsettled nature of the economy, concerns about the changing political landscape, and an eye to packing up and getting out of town should the need arise, are all considerations.
My question is, how would you folks spend $2500.00 over the next couple of months, to meet the above stated goals, and to get the biggest bang for the buck (please excuse the pun).
Some of the ideas under consideration are, purchase a flat top upper, with quad rails and an EO Tech type sight for the M-4. Buy a lower receiver, increase the ammunition stocks for the weapons on-had, if so what calibers. Purchase a M-1 Garand from the CMP, because of it’s caliber and overall utility. Decide on one or two pistol calibers, and sell or trade the ones not in those calibers for ammunition or, invest in re-loading equipment. I have tried the search button, and while I have found a great number of useful ideas, I was unable to find a thread that addressed this question with the parameters I set.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you would be willing to provide.

Ammo and Mags, possibly NV and the EO Tech also!!! Unless you are not satisfied with your current baseline of weapons, invest in Ammo and Mags!! If you are unhappy with any, sell them off and get what you are comfortable with. Remember, you can only shoot one of them (possibly two) at a time, so don't go grabbing for more hardware if you aren't going to be able to feed all of them!! Basically a carbine, a pistol and a shotgun with parts to support them or back-ups!!

I would go with Ammo, Ammo, Ammo, Hi-cap mags, Hi-cap mags, THEN lower receivers, threaded barrels, and if you have anything left then get the electronic sights and additionally accessories. The sighting system, rails, pistol grips and other furniture accessories are not likely to be restricted items in the future. But I believe that Ammo, Mags, and Barrels will be.

Just .02 cents, YMMV

Rent a U-haul and move to Alaska. The lower 48 states are a loss.

How to spend $2500

I tend to agree with more ammo and mags. I would probably trade some of my semi-autos in on a couple of hard hitting revolvers, and keep my '92 and 1911.
Maybe trade of some rifles for an M-4 and an AK.... never mind, I'd trade for a Springfield SOCOM. NODs are a must. Better to have one that serves as a scope also. Blitz

I've already started polishing off my collection. Already had several pistols, shotgun, and deer gun. Bought a vanilla M-4gery last week. I've put it off for years waiting to afford a high dollar gun. Now I at least have one to build on later. Still looking for a revolver for the wife. For years I have been trying to get her into shooting and eventually concealed carry. Her resistance faded the day after the election. Don't know why?

I concur wholeheartedly...

I personally believe building an adequate supply of ammunition onhand, followed by barrels/recievers/mags... they're the things most typically gunned for.

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions gentlemen. I was just starting to go into action when the furnace went out. Must be some kind of Karma debt.
Team Sergeant, I think you've nailed the right solution. Since our Canadian friends are rather humorless about our 2nd Ammendment, I may need to sneak across the border in one of those U-Hauls with a big picture of New York, Mass., or Calif. painted on the side, and Obama bumper stickers all over it. I would have to be wearing Birkenstocks, have a ponytail, and have copies of Mother Jones and Rolling Stone along with an ACLU membership card scattered about the inside of the cab. Of course, I would be wearing my Chuckles Schumer Halloween mask,, driving north to Free Alaska.

Flat top with rails and an ACOG. Then more 5.56 ammo.

If you want to get fancy, add a crimson trace laser pointer to the grips on the 9mm.
