SIG P226 Modifications

A friend of mine had me pick up a Short trigger for his Sig P226. We got it installed last night, and in my opinion, it greatly improves the feel of the pistol. I highly recommend this trigger, especially for anyone with smaller hands. He is also looking into a 22# hammer spring as opposed to the factory 24# to lighten up the trigger pull a bit. I'll let you know how this works out.

I had a short trigger on my P226 and liked it. I sold it and got a P228, and am thinking about getting the short trigger again, since DA is still a reach.

Did you guys get the Sig factory trigger, or TJ's?

this one was a SIG, primarily because of price. Sig:$45, TJ's:$60+.

the fellow who wanted this installed also prefers a wide trigger, the TJ's are significantly thinner than the Sig.

I was thinking of trying TJ's trigger this time around, since it is thinner in addition to being flatter as noted by Blake.

I have no experience with this particular trigger, so if you do try it I would love to know how it works out for you. I very much appreciate any new info on pistols, especially Sigs.

I recommended to the owner of the pistol that he put a Wolff 22# hammer spring in it as opposed to the 24# that it came with, but he was pleased enough with the short trigger, he chose not to do more.

Will do Tubbs. Factoring in shipping, the cost differential is only around $5 so I'm going to order the TJ's trigger.

Blake, I'm going to try the Wolff 22# hammer spring as well. I put a reduced power spring (LTT D Model hammer spring) in my Beretta 92F, and it does wonders for me as a newbie range shooter. I had a light primer strike in a case of S&B ammo though.

Between moving and sending the pistol away for refinishing, I haven't shot it much.

Here's the TJ short trigger. Like Blake said, it's thinner, side to side, but not as flat, front to back, as the factory short trigger. I don't perceive a dramatic improvement in the DA reach, but YMMV.

Thanks. Flat black Gun Kote, done by CCR. It was a pretty beat up LE trade-in, Brad did a great job dressing it up.

I also put on the Sig short trigger on my P229 and love it, particularly in combo with the Hogue wood grips, custom thinned by Hogue. They'll do it for an extra $25, result is wood grips only a little thicker (0.05") than the stock Sig plastic grips. Only drawback is the $100 approx overall cost for the grips.

I had a short trigger (from Sig) put in my P239 last month and it made a big difference. Ordered one for the P225 from TJ, but it fits too tight on the trigger bar and kills function. It looks great, but is going to need to go out for refit (ream the hole out or something I would assume). Just my luck.
