H&K P2000

I know there are several H&K fans on this site, who are also subject matter experts in the area of handguns and shooting in general, so I thought I would ask about H&K's new P2000. Has anyone here gotten the chance to shoot it yet? I have been looking at getting one, but since I am typically a .45 guy, I don't know which caliber to get it in. If you were to get it, what caliber would you choose? I HAVE gotten to hold it and it feels good in my hand, as is the case with all H&K's in my experience. The only things that are detractors for me are the caliber and the lack of an external safety. Your thoughts?

Respectfully Submitted,
BR

By no means am I a S.M.E. on shooting or H&K's however I have shot the P2000. It is a nice pistol, the trigger is very original it is not like a standard double action trigger nor is it like a typical signal action trigger. It defiently falls in between the two. You really need to shoot it to see if you would like it or not. The lack of externals safeties is because I think H&K wanted a bigger piece of the LEO pie, so they created a relatively brainless weapon to operate. i.e. point and shoot, no safeties or decockers to mess with.

One of my 'perc's' working as an adjunct instructor for HK is that I get to play with all of their toys...
The P2000 in .40 was very manageable, comfortable to shoot and has a great trigger....their LEM was supposed to compete with Glocks but it is different and if you send the pistol back to HK, they will reduce the pull to ~5 lbs and let me tell you, it is perfect right there. I had a USP compact .40, the P2000 is the same size but I liked it alot more than my USP and ordered one in .40. I wish they would make it in .45....my luck it will be announced as I take delivery on the .40!!!

Always wait till the SHOT.

That is where most manufacturers roll out their new models.

I try not to order anything new till February.

H&K's revamped US website has the P2000 in .357 SIG. Any word from SHOT regarding availability of that version?

I really like it, I don't really care for th USP but the P2000 is sex. Though I am going to get an XD, if I had another brick of money you would find a P200 added to the collection. I fondled it at the shot and it fits like a glove and points well, I lied the trigger, but not as much as the XD.

Well I guess that makes my choice of getting an XD "NOW" A good one, esp since I decided on a .357 SIG. Maybe I'll get a P2000 in a year of so after some people have got to play w/ it. With a little trigger work the gun is pretty close to awesome.
