Instead of guessing (upper reminds me of an AK variant but I know jack), I'm going to wager that Tuuka or a QP gets it.

AK-74 variant, 5.45 X 39.5mm, and funtions like an AK. Looks like it has an M-16 type ambidexterious safety too. All I need to know if I pick up the thing if I run out of ammo.

Can we get a pick of the other side of the rifle?

Beryl wz.96

I agree with MM, it does appear to be a variant of the original. Poland quit producing 5.45 ammo sometime in 1997 I believe and went with 5.56.

So very close....

It is a Beryl wz.2004. The new version is currently undergoing field trials (in Iraq, among other places).

OK, OK, I give up. I haven't heard the one about the Polish Assault Rifle. What's the Punchline?

Too late. Computer went FUBAR last weekend, have been rather close to putting a bullet to it. Seems that the hours i have spent fixing it,worked.
