Question Who is the oldest olympic athlete?

Watching Martina Navatrilova playing makes me wonder who is the oldest competing olympic athlete. Martina is 47. I think some weight lifters have been around for some time.

I believe (not positive) that it's a speed-walker from Poland, something like that.

Hey, more power to them. Makes my heart glad after seeing all the 14 year-old gymnasts and divers.

Hah! The oldest Swede to compete was 72 years old and won the silver medal in shooting! He also holds the record for age.

From the BBC page:
In 1908, Swede Oscar Swahn won two golds and one bronze medal at the age of 60, competing in the running deer single-shot and double-shot events.

He won gold and bronze in Stockholm four years later, and returned after the First World War to take silver at 72.

Oscar Swahn is the oldest Olympic competitor having participated in the 1920 team contest at the age of 72 days and 280 days.
