I like his philosophy.

The story of Glemie Dean Beasley plays like a country song. The son of a sharecropper, Beasley left school at 13 to pick cotton. He came to Detroit in 1958. His woman left him in 1970 for a man he calls Slick Willy.

Someone stole his pickup truck and then someone killed his best dog.

"I knowed some hard times," Beasley says. "But a man's got to know how to get hisself through them hard times. Part of that is eating right."

Never ate a raccoon - we just shot them and gave them to the dogs. Smart man, though, raccoon won't affect cholesterol as much as squirrel or opossum.

Wonder how he gets away with that sign in a place like Detroit without the Rev Brothers (Jessee, Al, and Jeremiah) on his case.

I just find this quote fascinating "Detroit was once home to nearly 2 million people but has shrunk to a population of perhaps less than 900,000. It is estimated that a city the size of San Francisco could fit neatly within its empty lots. As nature abhors a vacuum, wildlife has moved in." Sort of like that show After Humans are Gone"

When we lived in Spokane we had to hire a trapper in our neighborhood because we had trouble with racoons. A neighbors puppy disappeared one night and they were pretty bold -- You'ld hear them, turn on the light, make a lot of noise, open the door, stomp out on to the deck. 5 minutes! They'ld just look at you with the an aire of "You talkin' tp me?" The neighbors got together and hired a trapper (inside city limits) every morning thre was a big one in his trap. This went on for a few nights and $20 each. I started to wonder if our trapper wasn't taking it around the corner and releasing it again "See ya, Bob." "Right Fred, same house?" "Yeah, Bob, just like last night. Come on it's not like we haven't done this before." "Okay, Fred . . . see ya"
