We're trying... we're trying real hard to cling to our pacifist ways. But damn if the fusion of this US Army M110 Sniper Rifle and mounted iPod touch running the Bullet Flight external ballistics calculator (available via the App Store) doesn't make us want to kill. Tap in the variables such as weather conditions, ammunition type, distance to target, and wind speed before exhaling and gently squeezing back on your second amendment right.

The KAC booth at SHOT had one on display mounted on an M110. Unfortunately, I didn't pay much attention to it so I'm not in a position to comment. TR told me to behave; i.e. not to make snide comments about the 110s, so we blew on past headed for other booths. If it'll run on my IPod Nano, I might have to check it out (how badly can KAC screw up software somebody else created?). I've been looking for a balistics calculator that didn't require a major hardware investment. Maybe now I can do tunes and shooting at the same time; after all my MSA earpro has a jack in it.

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

FYI: The app only runs on the iPhone or iPod Touch lines. It doesn't run on the Nanos or other iPods which are entirely different hardware and software, in spite of the similar naming.

Who wants to bet that 13D's/E's/P's/etc, use a MacBook Pro!

I am so going to enjoy sharing this with a few hardcore apple loving liberals that I know....
