SFAS in benning?

Wed morning I obtained my temporary hold on an 18x MOS, next wed I go in for my oath. Here is the thing im confused about; my recruiter told me im going to benning for osut, airborne, air assault and SFAS. All the research I have done said that the SFAS and all SF training was done in bragg or NC rather and on the go army forums they said I dont even go threw air assault school at all. I have a wife and child that I have to at the best of my ability synchronize with to make our moves and future plans go as smooth as possible but im getting different answers every time I ask. I think ill be in NC after osut and airborne is that a correct assumption?

Your recruiter is confused.

OSUT and Airborne will be at Benning.

You are not going to Air Assault School.

You will PCS to Ft Bragg for SOPC and SFAS. If you are selected, further training will follow.

First NCO spot correction....

Where is your profile? Did you carefully follow directions? Proper sentence structure and capitalization would also be a minor educational and discipline improvement. Good luck in your adventure.

Here is your Spot Correction. The Admin's, Mods or QP's will direct spot corrections here not Non QP's.

Have a Happy SF Day

Having had my slight loss of sanity earlier and posting without thinking(sorry guys) I do have a question..

Do the recruiters get any kind of training concerning the X-ray program or do they just hand them out and say best of luck?

Best of Luck

Best of Luck!

I first heard it from Arnold Palmer "It's funny, the more I practice, the luckier I get."

Lots of swimming and running.

Lots more rucking.

PS, Best of Luck!

The 18x contract is a special mission for USAREC
A recruiter get two "points" if they sign an 18x candidate.
Pretty much all they need is a 20+ year old individual, with a 75% percentile in intelligence
They're not trained to particularly care about anything above this
A recruiter might sign 50-60 individuals in their stint
They're lucky if they ever see an 18x contract
They can't know everything about the 100+ initial MOS options

I have done it. The training regime was designed to get you in shape for selection so yes it is good. If its not to your liking invest in How to Get Selected and follow that one. Either one will tear you up.

The 18x program is facilitated at Ft. Benning by a core cadre, mostly assigned to 1/50th IN Bn. 30th AG tries to assign the majority of the X-rays to the same Bn, which also has the majority of the 18 series Drill Sergeants. There is also a X-ray Program on Sand Hill which is ran by a MSG who will come out and visit with you after your 6th week in training.

As long as this program has been running it is fine tuned and functions very well, as proven by several successful candidates on this board.

Focus on getting through Basic and Airborne school before worrying about SFAS. I do visit "at risk" 18x and see both the SF recruiters and X-Ray Program facilitators on a semi- normal basis, they are hard men doing a great job in weeding out the unworthy.
