Exclamation WARNING ORDER: Special Forces Reunion Panama April 08

Passing this on...QP organizing this says 7th Gp CSM is supposed to get word out as well. Posted in 7th SFG thread - but as many of you know, it applies to those SF who were in other assignments as well (JOTB, USARSO, SOC, etc...). He's received over 20 replies already - I'm not sure of the threshold for making it a reality...this could be one hell of a great time or lead to the largest arrest of SF soldiers in one location OCONUS in history!!!

SUBJECT: WARNING ORDER: Special Forces Reunion Panama April 08

TO: All Truly Interested Personnel:

An associate (Former Zonian & Tour Company Owner/Operator) and I are coordinating our efforts for a Special Forces Reunion. This reunion will be targeted to former personnel/families of the 8th, 3/7 SFG (A) and SOF personnel that have served in or supported SF throughout the years in Panama. Dates: 23-29 Apr 08.

We are in coordination with the management of the Melia Panama Canal Hotel, Casino & Conference Center (Former School of Americas/Old Fort Gulick, in Colon). If the Melia will not come to an agreement with us on discounted rooms and services we will have the reunion in Panama City.

If a sufficient number of personnel are willing to attend, I will then publish a Registration Form that will have all pertinent information about the reunion. For a more expedient flow of information the registration form will be returned to you via e-mail. I am also planning to publish the registration form in the SFA DROP.

At this time the registration fee will be in comparison with other Special Forces Reunions. Complete details, itinerary of events will be provided, also a list of tours and activities to choose from. Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Full Registration will include: BBQ, Banquet and Hospitality Room.

Rooms rates will also include: Complimentary breakfast buffet.

If you are seriously interested in attending please reply to this e-mail with the following information:

Projected number of personnel attending.

Sounds good to me...Saw Gary at the reunion and he mentioned he may try to get this off the ground.

It is Panama.

A bribery, shakedown, and payoff fund might be more appropriate.

Panama Reunion

I probably would not qualify for attendance, but that would be quite a party, I’m sure. I spent some time running a bunch of UH-1’s out of Sherman in the mid 80’s, when Pineapple face was still in power, the Cubans were scurrying around the jungle, and the Panama City banks were busy as hell cleaning dough. Due to the world wide grounding of the Blackhawks, we were tasked to head south to pick up a snake bite victim. My partner and I scrambled to arrange for a blivit of gas and a pump so we could make it back in, when all was cancelled. We were told, unfortunately that the medevac was no longer needed. That was probably as close as I got to supporting the 7th. On the other hand, JOTC thought they had their own private Air Force. I had never seen so many guys that wanted to rappel out of a Huey at night.

Is the Hotel Washington still in business?

SF Uncle

I was reading this thread and was wondering if anyone could help me learn a bit about, or if anyone knew my uncle who was SF in Panama. I can not be sure if he was there during or after the invasion but the time frame lines up for close to that time. I haven’t been able to find out thru my family and was trying to enlist some help.

FL:

If you refer to the rules in the stickies on this board, you will see that is something we have asked people not to do.

Probably a million people served in Panama over the years, ands this is not the place to start digging through them.

The purpose of this thread is to put out info on the reunion. Let's keep it that way.

Is this still a GO? If it is, put me down for two spaces. That "hotel" is my old building when it was the School of the Americas. I took down the last American flag to fly there.

I would suggest that you contact Gary B at the email in the initial post.

AFAIK, no one here is booking reservations.

I talked to my friend Gary B. and told him that due to a lawsuit coming to term the wife and I would not be able to make this trip. I went thru jungle school down there a very long time ago.
If ya'll get in the pokey and need bail, Gary has my phone number.

Gang - note TR said contact Gary B...his email is in the post - I don't have anything to do with the event. So desist on the emails to me as they aren't going anywhere.

Last I heard was they changed it to going on a cruise that would only be in PM one day - evidently the hotel reservations would have been too costly for many...

cheers,
