BTDT. - The WORST pain I have ever had... honest.

I have reoccurring stones. Last one I pissed out 2 weeks ago. 10mm x 3mm (I shit you not) [Pics on request]

So, Heres a bit of my story...

1st and 2nd stone passed without too much problem. I did have to go into hospital however, the pain was just hell. They weren’t overly large, but I never caught them so unsure on the actual size.

3rd stone...
I went in to hospital for this procedure (Litho) but the damn machine blew up. So, They (the docs) decided to go UP (yeah UP) and get it out with some hook type thing.

I was out to it, so it wasn’t an issue. When I woke, I found out that they had actually pushed the stone back up into the kidney and hadn't grabbed it at all. They then decided to put a stent in to assist its passing. Well, The stent hurt like hell. Not as bad as the stone, but every time I went to pee, it felt like razorblades... even sleeping was an issue. Id roll over and it would feel like I had been stabbed in the knob.

After 4 weeks, I went back into the ED one night because I hadn’t slept in so long and was just sick of the stent. I wanted it OUT. So, They took it out... with just a local. The good news was that they of course had a number of student docs in the ED at the time, and of course... they all wanted to be in on the removal. M'eh - I didn’t care; I just wanted the stent out. So, With 7 students, 2 nurses and the urologist circling me... he grabbed my **** and pulled out this long scope thing. Pushed a bit of local anaesthetic (sp?) up my **** and then force-feed the scope up my ****. I would have preferred he had waiting for the anaesthetic to work, but he was in a hurry…Well, That was not a pleasant experience I tell you. After what seemed 4 hours (was about 5 minutes apparently) he grabbed the stent in the scope thing and pulled..... Out comes the scope with this curly telephone looking cord thing attached to the end of it. I didn’t think it would ever stop!!! After a lot of deep breathing, the odd swear word and a bit of sweat, it was out. SIGH

I will NEVER have a stent installed again - EVER.

3 days after the stent was removed, I pee'd out the stone. Just a little one at about 3.5mm

Since then I’ve had 3 more (see last one as above)

They are, without a doubt, the most painful thing I have EVER had. I have been shot (well, winged), stabbed, had bones broken, dislocated patella (x3) broken jaws, and had stuff shoved up my arse.... they are nothing like Kidney Stones. (Note the Caps - they deserve it)

So, My thoughts are with you. If anyone reading this feels slightly strange in there lower regions, I’m sorry. Just hope like hell you never get the things.

I’m currently peeing into a 2-litre bottle to do 3 x 24 hour urine samples to investigate why I keep getting the damn things. So, hopefully, we will find out why and do something to correct it.

BMT – Ill be thinking of you when you go in dude. If there’s anything I can answer for you from a purely non-medical patient perspective, let me know.
