Thumbs down Real ID and NEW mil retiree ID card

I fly now for work - a LOT. I have my “Real ID” star on my driver’s license. All good.
Occasionally I have used my blue “retired mil” for the scanner - never an issue.

Since the Blue retiree cards are “no longer valid” after Dec 31, I got my “new and improved” mil retiree card this past week.

Flying out this morning, slid THAT in the slot -
You need a passport Sir - this is not a “Real ID”😳

My Blue one worked?!?
Yes sir - do you have your blue one? The new ones will not serve as “Real ID” compliant and you will require additional screening.

I probably shouldn’t be surprised - but I think it’s pretty silly. At least I could still use my driver’s license
