Politicians of all stripes openly demonstrate (intentional or unintentional) contempt for due process these days.
The pressure to “do something...”
“...anything...”
Often results in the creation of horrible law.
Punishing a person who is merely accused is a recipe for problems.
A fast track evidentiary hearing allowing both sides to appear would seem respectful to the Constitution and still provide for community safety.
