Sir, I had one of that type (I believe it was called Thunderwear) that I used for awhile. I carried mostly either my PPKs or a Smith M60 .38 in it. In jeans or other tighter fitting pants, it was pretty uncomfortable, especially when sitting down. The bulge was also pretty noticeable (not bad, I guess, if youre wearing it in a singles bar... ). In looser front pants (Dockers, etc) or dress pants, it really wasnt too bad. If you dont buy your pants with a loose waistband, drawing it wasnt quick by any weans (even after I had the hammer on my M60 bobbed). If I wore a belt, I found it was really bad, as I couldnt even open the front to gain access. The best option that worked for me was, as you said, for hot weather wear. Shorts with a loose front was about the only way I used it. Since I rarely wear shorts, it kinda went by the wayside. Just my .02 with that type of rig. Hope it helps.
