I concur, I too grew up with at least food stamps if not more? when my single mother went back to college. I still remember the burn of walking home with two bags of groceries each......but I do give my mother credit for doing what she needed to in a tight situation. Things given can make for interesting dynamics, bitterness and resentfulness often manifest VS satisfaction, pride and hopefully a degree of humility when you are able to create and build your own future.
