Anyone know or tried one of these out yet?

I would think that it doesn't take long for an electric motor to fire up and retract the bolt.
The fingerprint scanner by itself does not necessarily induce a time lag. It can be very fast.
What I might be cautious about is the fingerprint scanner's sensitivity. I have a builtin fingerprint scanner on my
laptop which can be set to three levels of security. With the highest level set, it can easily read the finger without much effort, but it is rather strict that you put it the almost EXACT same way you did when you recorded the finger.
With practice you'll get it right faster, first try. Under stress, however, I'm not sure I'd want to fiddle around practicing finger dexterity.
Try it in a store first and check its sensitivity to angles, pressure and tilt.
Hope that helps.
