Rumor is that in the future it could be available for other striker fired pistols. When you don't have a choice of pistols, then it's just another tool.
I was issued a Glock for 5 years and ended up being pleasantly surprised with it. Of course the M9, that I was issued didn't exactly fall into the "superior" category either.
