Home made bullet trap??

My Element II is in jail, the wait has started, I need a project..

When I lived in the Keys, my LSG had a small office,, maybe 15-25. It was part of a dock side warehouse. The rest of the building was occupied by a fish monger.

To demo sub-sonic ammo & cans, he made a backstop of several out of date LEO level IIIA vests.

I'm think I might try something like this for my garage for 22lr only,, to start.

Q's

1)Level II talks to 22lr, but how many shots before failure?? If I have three(3) over lapping soft Level II or IIa would it last??

2)Is three(3) level II better than one(1) level IV??

3)Both soft and hard plates are available on ebay for as low as 25USD @. I know that soft armor goes behind hard plate when mounted in a carrier, But can I do soft in front of hard for a back stop??

4)What does the "out if date" mean? Do the aramid fibers evaporate or rust or what??

5)For my 26ft garage range, I am thinking a 24inch sq target area should do it??

Thanks
