For the want of a nail or how we climbed only Six 14ers in Three days.

We arrived vic. of Craigs Trailhead (11,800) on Monday and free camped. Up early Tuesday for the 13.25 roundtrip climb to Pikes Peak (14,110). 4,300 elevation gain. Long day with 6.5+hrs. up and 4.75hrs down. Damn pebbles. RON.

Early up and 2hr. drive to Fourmile Creek Trailhead (11,800) for the Mt. Sherman ascent (14,036). 2,850 elevation gain. 3.25hrs. up and 1.75hrs. down. Cheap (very nice) hotel in Fairplay, CO (dark and rain). Excellent dinner at the Southwestern Steakhouse.

Free breakfast and another early up along a bastard road to Kite Lake Trailhead (12,000). Today is four 14ers. Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln, and Bross (14,286). 3,700 elevation gain. Round trip mileage was 7.25 and the saddles between peaks are about 13,000. Return to Fairplay and excellent burgers at the Brown Burro.

Free breakfast and another early up to a flat tire... We were planning to do Quandary Peak (14,265) but the time constraint moved it to another day.

I married a tough ole mule and blessed for it.

Awesome pic to follow.
