We didn't call them that either. Mine looked a lot like yours, minus the custom webbing. Back then, a Gerber was a big deal to me.

And FWIW - that's not a 'Spartan' blade - it's a USN issued combat diver's knife - my personal all-around favorite and cost me zip.
My 'harness' now hangs on a hook in the closet next to my Winchester Model 25 12Ga pump.
