NO MUZZLE BRAKE!?!?!?!

Lots of good comps out there; However, as I write this out it dawns on me that most 50 brakes will most likely be for 50BMG rifles.

The Turbodyne I ran on my CQ (will not work with 29" BTW) is extemely heavy and you can forget unsupported shooting.

I recommend grade 9 Ti to fab up a custom brake or can. Anzio Iron Works makes a great can with a brake on the end. If you are going to do a 50BMG, get a can with the brake on the end. There is SO much pressure on the BMG round that even though the reciol impulse is slower and longer, it is w-a-a-a-y longer. When I would shoot off of a bench. Me and the rifle would be pushed off of the bench. In the prone, even a man around 200 pounds will be moved backwards across the ground to the tune, 40 rounds is a couple of feet!

Okay, we are not talking about a 50 BMG, I get that. You may find yourself in a "tween" situation 50 Bea-this and 450 that because they obviously are not mainstream rounds. I would think anyone distributing the rounds or uppers for these would have a brake designed for them? If not, have one made. In my mind, anything and everything I want in my collection would be something I would want to go to work with and I can not imagine that a hammer like that without anything to cancel out recoil is practical. A brake alone is obviously going to be hard to live with.

I am a huge fan of suppressors. I do not have to be "ninja" quiet and if I do, a suppressed 9mm (147gr) or 45ACP without a booster will only give up the report of the primer, in this case it will be the projectile impact that will be the most obvious sound. The recoil reduction, muzzle flash and overall balance alone scream for a suppressor. Having the noise level on par with a 22LR and saving your ability to communicate after firing is just icing on the cake. Even a 50BMG is comparable to a 22LR, but, it is a bigger crack because their is more surface area.

You can save hundreds by building your own can, provided you submit a form 1 or it may not save you much money in the end. Personally, I would go to Anzio and have them custom make a can with the brake on the end of it. With the tax stamp you may get $1500.00 into it and that may be what the rifle cost. But, just like the rifle the can is transferable and if you do not need money over night, you will get at least what you paid for it, sometimes quite a bit more when the market is right. (like NOW)
