I wonder if studies pay enough attention to the stress of transition for combat veterans who leave the military and enter the civilian workforce?

Consider being with a group of guys who'd risk their life for you, and for whom you would risk yours, where trust is a matter of life and death...and then you find yourself in an environment where nobody trusts each other, where everybody's out to screw each other, where your military record means nothing. To them, it's an ancient history they'll never understand. They don't care if you ran through enemy fire to facilitate the evac of a wounded comrade, they only care how much of a threat you are going to be to their job security. When you bust your ass and do a great job in the civilian workplace you're not going to get a tab or a badge or a chevron or a hashmark or a commendation...and chances are even if you ask for a raise you won't get one. And you have a boss, a guy who maybe would've lasted a a week or two in basic or bootcamp before getting sh*tcanned--if the idea of serving his country had ever crossed his mind (and it hasn't) and he rides you just like he rides everybody else.

It's the exacerbation of PTSD I'm talking about.
