Pelican cases with pick and pluck foam are great, but I think the padded inserts are better in that they allow more stuff to be packed and are reconfigurable.
With pick and pluck foam, once the foam is pluck'd it is what it is, only way to really reconfigure is to replace the foam. The padded inserts are infinetely reconfigurable.
