Should you choose option one, you will be right 100% of the time, or at least have a reference / leg to stand on if questioned.

Choose option two and risk getting sent home if SPC Tentpeg from selection class 4-11 was wrong about the cadre being lenient on the packing list. Or perhaps it was only HIS cadre, or the cadre changed, or decisions were made to no longer be lenient starting with your class, or any other host of reasons that send you home prior to ever getting started.

Why take the chance over a pair of "high speed" boots?

I've said it before, there isn't a piece of gear that is going to pass SFAS for any candidate....it is the man using it that get's selected.
Couldn't have said it any better. The packing list is there for a reason, It's not about who can buy the best gear, it's about starting on an even keel and seeing who meets the standard when the smoke clears.

If you haven't, pick up a copy of " Get selected for Special Forces" that book, in combination with other tidbits on this site will give you the tools you need to succeed. It will be up to you employ them.
